re: Is Mike Leach the most interesting coach in all sports?

Leach is a liar, plain and simple. That is why I do not like him. It has nothing to do with Adam James but he thinks he is above reproach and lied to multiple people multiple times. Plus I do not think he is that good of a coach. Tech was working their way to fire him already before they suspended him.

Okay a man that has never won a Conference and consistently loses to FCS teams is good?
Go read the emails Meyers was ready to fire him. They were tired of his lies and stupid demands.
LSU runs a guy out for losing to a top 10 team but a guy who cant beat FCS teams at home and not win conference championships is a fricking god? What the hell?

Met him in Key West once. Dude was wearing a pirate hoodie and could barely stand, as he continued to pound shots of rum. He's my idol.

Washington St and LSU are comparable now
MSB gonna MSB

I read that he spends virtually all of his offseason time researching random topics, interested in a variety of subjects, something to which I think a lot of people can relate.

I think he met at Texas Tech but even that is laughable
Lubbock makes Baton Rouge look like Austin

I meant both
Dykes got Tech to a Cotton Bowl winning the conference. Tech has maintained since he (Leach)left.
Price went to the Rose Bowl 2 times
Just because he throws it 70 times a game does not make him a great coach. Sorry. But people think he could come into any program and win championships, it is not the case. Yes he has turned around Wazzu from what Wulff left him, but let's not act like he has done anything monumental. In no way should Wazzu be losing to Portland St and Eastern in back to back years at home.

True. But in no way should he be beating Oregon, UCLA, Stanford and Arizona State in consecutive weeks. Given what those schools have in resources, recruiting base, climate and population, Leach is pulling his weight at WSU.
You ever been to Pullman? I live about 45 minutes from there. It's a shitty town in the middle of nowhere. It's cold, flat and has the appeal of Siberia.

I've heard Pullman is really cool
Pullman is such a dump, students drive to Moscow to party and go to bars.
That's why Mike Price got away with hanging out strip clubs...it's like Mayberry.
And Moscow, Idaho only has 23,000 people.
But hey, GOAT CFB announcer went to Wazzu.

I know a good bit of tech people. There isn't one that doesn't want leach back.

Mike Leach is kind of a piece of crap. Like I can understand how people might think what he says here or there is funny in an ironic way, and that's his appeal, irony. But realistically the dude is just lucky to still be a coach because he knows how to coach offense.

That year Tech went to the Cotton Bowl they were 6-6 and there was a 5 way tie for 1st in the SWC. A 10-0-1 A&M team was ineligible on probation. The conference was running on fumes at that point.
The point is that Spike was a pretty good coach, but what he did really doesn't compare to what Leach did in a stronger Big 12.

That's not accurate. He's turned a corner at WSU and his defenses aren't nearly as bad as they were at Texas Tech.
At present WSU is a respectable #37 in total yards allowed and giving up 26 points a game. That's not great but it's certainly not awful.
He's got one bad loss this year, the first game of the season. Their other loss was by a FG on the road to undefeated #13 Boise State.
No one is saying that Mike Leach is a top 10 coach. But the fact that he's made WSU competitive is pretty impressive. They didn't have a winning season in the DECADE before he got there. Yes, he's not won the PAC-12 but you have to recognize improvement and give credit when due.

hes easily the GOAT cfb coach. love the guy

he is who he is.
he doesn't change or try to act like something he isn't.
and he's a good coach.

I love Leach to death for who he is, but honestly, he's just one bad experience at the DMV away from putting on his tinfoil hat and becoming the next drunken uncle that rambles on about Alex Jones each holiday to his family.
