Is Madison Prep to blame for the the fall of Glen Oaks HS Basketball?

I started HS in 2009 and back then Scotlandville and Madison Prep were afterthoughts basketball-wise. The Baton Rouge teams I always remembered hearing about back then were Glen Oaks, Christian Life, and Catholic. Harvey Adger had built a juggernaut that seemed to churn out Div. 1 players every year. Now I essentially never hear about Glen Oaks in basketball. This increasing fall out of relevance seemed to coincide with Madison Prep's (and Scotlandville's) rise as a basketball power in the state. Are a lot of the kids that used to go to Glen Oaks now going to Scotlandville instead? What happened to the Panthers glory days?

Is it just me, or was metro Baton Rouge high school basketball much better in the 90’s, in particular, mid to late 90’s.

Istrouma
Glen Oaks
Belaire
McKinley
St. Amant
Southern Lab

All of the above squads had some great players and the gyms were packed with people to watch them play.

Thoughts?

I think the parity has just decreased a lot. S'Ville and Madison Prep are really the only two consistently great teams in the city now. Other teams around the state like Natchitoches Central and Bossier make up the other state powers.

Walker and Zachary are basketball teams coming to power, especially Walker.

Scotlandvilles rise is a result of the retirement of Joel Hawkins. When he retired Southern Lab lost a lot of pull in NBR.

Woodlawn was great when Coach Kenny Almond was there. They won the championship my senior year 1999. My brother played on some great teams in the early-mid 90s as well.

You missed the two best mid to late 90's BR basketball programs- Woodlawn and Parkview.

The early/mid ‘90 GO teams were legends.
