And no recruiting whatsoever.
If Notre Dame was recruiting kids, you'd think they'd find some ones that were over 5'9" every once in a while.

Like I told a dude that accused ND of recruiting, "If ND was recruiting, don't you think we'd have a couple of kids sign scholarships every year instead of one every couple of years?"

Uh didn't they miss out on Tony Citizen
I played against Tony. My sophomore year he went off on us for like 200 yards and they won. Next year he had 28 yards and no TD's.
Tony is a great guy. Strong as mule and had thighs like Earl Campbell.

I can't understand though how they are doing that in Crowley of all places.
Not much to do there besides eat rice, workout and drink
I always hear "they recruit" but that is false. It is the one decent school in the area. Kids from Rayne, Church Point, Jennings and few other places go there.I started there Jr/Sr year on defense, wasn't recruited. There is a long line of families that go through the school, too; Hensgens, Casanovas, Bourgious, Leonards, etc etc. A very elite conditioning/workout program. When I was there it was a combination of LSU/Texas I believe, for Summer workouts and spring. And the coaching is top notch. We'd have 15-30 page scouting reports for the opponent each week.

I was one of the biggest on the team at 6'2 210 DE/DT, and the kids are way smaller overall now it seems. Maybe a handful are even over 6' right now looking at the roster, and they are still winning.
if you count the soph-sr class when I was there I think 4 played D1. Then a handful of others were preferred walk ons, or just didn't have interest in playing college ball. But thats out of like 85-100 kids.

I started as a junior at LB at 5'10, 175 lbs on a 13-1 team that lost to John Curtis in the semis by a touchdown with 30 seconds left. We fumbled twice on the goaline in the first half. Should have been State Champs.

Shelving was the highest profile guy I know of that went to ND recently. He was school shopping when he went there. Pretty sure he made his decision based on where he thought he would be part of a winning team that would allow him to look good playing. Winning recruits for you, effectively.
LCA is continuously accused of recruiting, but somehow the best D1 offer they have until now is from UL Lafayette in football.

BTW, the RB for STM, (#5) his dad is a ND graduate and was a good player.

Football’s rise can be directly tied to one person, Trev Faulk.
My son played there, well, he was on the team. He has the misfortune of inheriting his dad genetics, in terms of athletics.
We really lIked the previous coach, Derek Landry, he was a good coach and he also taught advanced math (he had a degree in math). But my son said the whole mindset changed when Coach Faulk took over. Disciplined play, work ethic and teamwork above all were emphasized. And they worked harder than he ever had before.
From my perspective, main reason they beat lab was they played a disciplined game and lab did not.

As much as I love my Pioneers, they couldn't hang with either STM or U-High.
Too big of a talent gap.

LCA recruits. Let’s all be honest here. And the 6’2” 315 lb freshman nose guard will be a legit 4-5 star player in a couple of years. Gabriel and Ryan are another two that should be getting D-1 looks. But if you look this team compared to LCA even 2-3 years ago it’s not even close. They’ve put a lot of emphasis on football and basketball and it shows. No need to even hide or deny it. I still think it’s a good school, my niece says the football players read to them in their elementary school class and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

I don’t think it is the same as U High because Laf is smaller than BR, I think in the next 10 years it could be the next Evangel.
U-High is not Evangel. A couple good years does not make them Evangel

Y’all keep saying they beat Southern Lab, from what the guy put up earlier they didn’t play them this year.

If they beat them in the playoffs why didn’t he put that in the post of their record?

Maybe he was trying to portray a weak schedule?
