U-High used to not be so bad, but they reek of filth right now. I wouldn't be shocked if the stories about Gordon McKernan buying all the black kids a spot in the school and on the team are true.

U-High is a Lab school. So they don't have an attendance zone. Does U-high recruit? Probably so, but in their defense, they have been a legit program for SEVERAL decades. It's not like they sprouted up 6-8yrs ago from nothing and started dominating and winning state titles within a few years of kick starting a varsity program. A lot of LCA's dominance has a lot to do with the split. A lot of the recent success schools are having is because of the split. But LCA, there is no way a program should be this successful in regards to titles, this fast, this early in their history. Without doing some backdoor things to get players there.

They already are. Sustaining it shouldn't be a problem with money pouring into that church and the pastor funding the scholarships to the premier players. I am curious though, how Notre Dame is going to handle this. They are THE team in that district and that division. Curious if they can handle LCA.

I’m not talking about being a regional/small school powerhouse. I think they could be a state powerhouse. In 10 years not the same as U High but on that state powerhouse level.

Well they will have to start playing teams outside of the acadiana area in order to do that. They'll need to start scheduling catholic of br, U-high, JC, etc if they want to be a powerhouse. Even go up north. Right now, the only "competition" they are getting is a bunch of use to be good programs in the immediate lafayette area. Scheduling Loureville, Franklin High, Jeanerette, etc isn't exactly something to hang your hat on. The only real teams they played were VC and AC.

Have they played acadiana? Or sTm? Curious as to why? I'd like to see them do what sTm and play C-BR.

Sounds like the Evangel/Calvary model.
No wonder you don't hear anything about Carencro, Acadiana, New Iberia, etc any more.
They should be moving up in classification soon.

Carencro, Acadiana,

Carencro while not as good as they once were, aren't exactly a pushover. Acadiana? Well their hof coach retired. I'd imagine there is going to be either a decline, or a buffer period for the new coach to break the players in.

I think they will play the big guys in a few years. This new district is going to be a big step up and I’m sure they will want to dominate before taking on STM, etc. due to LCA, Carencro and Northside are in bad shape.

I will say this for all those saying they just feasted in a weak schedule:
The schedule was very weak but they destroyed everybody! There was doubt as to how good they really were then.....
Then they beat Southern Lab by 2 TDS. They have legitimate talent and will challenge ND for Div III supremacy going forward

ND has beaten plenty of teams more talented than LCA through the years

The only team worth a shite on their schedule was VC. So weak is putting it mildly. I don't think anyone doubted that they would likely win the district and probably make it to the finals for D4. I do think the new district will be tougher, and the eventual playoffs will as well. The southern lab win was impressive. I am not saying they aren't legitimately talented players. I don't fault the kids playing. They are just a product of the parents/school/system they are in. I just don't have any respect for the school, the way they've done things, and the flamboyant way they carry themselves.

yes they have. They have a great program there. I can't understand though how they are doing that in Crowley of all places.

What happened to U High in the mid to late 90’s? They weren’t a factor at all.

They beat Southern Lab by 15, Ascension Catholic beat the 1A State Champ Kentwood by 5. LCA beat Ascension Catholic by 49.

What's your point? I think everyone agree's the playoffs are severely watered down with the split.

That GED you get from there really helps the students out. Unless they recently received their high school accreditation.

I played there, many years ago. It's the only Catholic school in the Parish. They get kids from Crowley, Rayne, Church Point, Iota and surrounding areas. They have a winning tradition and expect to win. Coach Cook is the main reason for their success. Discipline and a winning attitude are the key factors.

We were 2A when I played and would consistently drum 4A and 3A teams out of district. My sophomore year, we beat the eventual 3A Champs (Eunice) 28-0.

And no recruiting whatsoever.
