Todd Helton likely gets in this year or next. I don't think Votto does, but he's about as close to the line as you can get.

Love the effort in stating your case but if we are all being honest none of those 4 belong in the Hall of Fame. You could compare 100 different hitters with somewhat similar numbers and argue it all day. That alone tells me they don't belong. Those that truly belong aren't argued over. They just get in.

Ugghh. I don't know. This will be a stats vote. Didn't win much. Had a couple awesome years. Quietly an OBP machine. Kind of just...there. Nothing really historical.

There's probably 25 people I'd put in before I even think about this guy.

Do you even watch baseball, he was easily considered the best hitter in baseball for almost a decade. He has an MVP and should have a second

And that's relevant to Votto's case how exactly?

By today's standards I would say yes, but the original standards the HOF was built on and that I think should be the standard still....no.

It's the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Above Average

342 HR isn't tremendous, but he's top 30 all time for 1B, so no slouch.

Woah he’s top 30 all time for an entire position.

but he's not a longevity play

Wtf you mean by that? He’s been an everyday player for almost 15 years.

quote:

His career slugging with RISP is 16th ALL TIME. Higher than Mantle, Musial, Mays, Griffey, Miggy, Arod and on and on. Want to know how great a hitter is? How often is he getting walked with RISP? Here is the career top 5 all-time BB/PA with RISP. 1) Barry Bonds 2) Ted Williams 3) Babe Ruth 4) Mickey Mantle 5) Joey fricking Votto

Please don’t try to compare him with any of the players again. They’re some of the greatest players of all time. They’re in a completely different galaxy than Votto.

I’m not comparing, it’s just a straight up facts, sorry.

It denies this myth that Votto was just some sort of walk only guy who didn’t hit when it mattered.

Anyone with two eyes and a pulse knows the two best hitters in beisbol for the 2010s, and Votto ain't one of 'em.

Bro you’re on a Deep South message board. They’ll catch up in another 15-20 years, as is tradition.

Nobody thinks he’s some kind of walk only guy. If you’ve watched any amount of baseball in the past 15 years you know he’s a great hitter.
