His biggest strength has always been his "old man game" and craftiness. He has always had below average athleticism for an NBA guard, but he is skilled with the ball and body manipulation.
Goading players into these type of fouls is part of it, and the NBA will likely change the rule in the offseason.
It's not a particularly enjoyable skill, but it has certainly helped his team.

No one said that anyone could do it, you're creating a strawman and arguing versus that. But do you really believe that he's the only player in the NBA that could draw fouls that way?

That's how players are taught to fight through a screen. They gotta go hard through it to try to stop him from having a free path into the lane. then he outsmarts them and times it perfectly and stops and goes into his shooting motion all while they trying to get thru the screen and they foul him. he's a unique player in that the way defenses try to guard him opens up this opportunity for him to draw the foul. Other guys can't do it bc they aren't as skilled and smart.

Derp. Not even two pages ago.

Very very few guys can do it. None at his level obviously.

What's hilarious about this is he literally avoided a WIDE OPEN lane to run into Jerami Grant last night

And I'll go super casual fan here and say that for some reason Harden is the only one who consistently gets those calls. How many times has Russ been bumped while shooting this series?
I HATE this rip through shite getting calls. Whether it's harden or not.

Reauxlie not only is harden the first to average 25/25 for a season he's also the best we've ever seen at getting to the line. Truly a one of a kind player that the league has never seen before. He's a unicorn.

Some of those gifs shouldn't equal fts. They are rip thru fouls
Do y'all think the league will implement new rules next year to combat that?

I don't blame him for the the foul stuff. Plenty of it is legit. But some of it is ridiculous and the refs are retarded for calling it.

When one guy has done it more than any other team, it's fair to say no one else can do it with that type of precision.
I hate it, it's lame... I don't blame him one bit for doing it. If others could do it on that level, you can bet that they would.

Hey these are best refs in the world. Unless they wanna get demoted to the Russian woman's league they better make the right call consistently.

Wtc is this, Boom?

Dude leans into Manu, puts his arm out, Manu goes around it, and Harden just runs into him

This is insanity

Manu reach, James teach. Manu needs better footwork/positioning there.

What has to be done is to be more strict about calling it on the floor. If the contact is initiated before he begins his act of shooting which 99% of the time it is you cant give him 3 Fts because he flails after in the general direction of the goal

I don't like asking a referee to judge intent too much, but it is painfully clear that Harden has no intention of making any of these attempts. If the defender whiffs I'm not even sure if Harden would get off the shot sometimes.

There is no better positioning that would have annulled contact that Harden initiated. That's what makes it nigh impossible to defend.
To be fair, though, Manu did the same in his heyday. Not nearly as often as Harden, but it forces the official to call something. Even a general shooting motion usually results in a 2 shot foul.
