In the 90's, when Cincinnati, DePaul, Marquette, Memphis, St. Louis, UAB, Charlotte, Louisville, Southern Miss, Tulane, and South Florida were CUSA members, I understood schools in lesser conferences wanting in. Great hoops league.
In 2005-06 when Cincinnati, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette, and USF left for the Big East, Charlotte and St. Louis left for the Atlantic 10, and TCU left for the Mountain West, it never was that great an option again. It just sounded better because of what it had been in the 90s.

Agreed. Our leadership dropped the ball & i’m not sure what the future holds. It’s embarrassing.

The entire G5 landscape will change once the P5 spits out the final rejects.
New CUSA - ugly ugly ugly - but no g5 conference is great.
My rank:
MWC
AAC
Sunbelt
MAC
CUSA

CUSA is better than the MAC in all 3 major sports by a large margin.

What is sad is when they started they had good programs or programs with potential in: Houston, Louisville, Cincinnati, Memphis, South Florida, and Tulane.
Doesn’t this mean they accomplished their goal? Any program that joined the CUSA did so with the intent of using it as a springboard to a better league.
Similarly, 3 of the 4 G5 to P5 movers being American conference teams show the AAC did a better job than the Mountain West.

Teams and universities move up if they have the “fundamentals” and their previous conferences have little to do with it

The top end of cusa (3/4 programs) is probably better but the bottom is absolutely putrid

There will be another split where only the top 60 or so programs will even matter.

Top to bottom the SBC is better than CUSA & MAC. The SBC as a whole is better than both the AAC and MWC, just not at the top.

SBC is good, but we are all going to watch and enjoy the midweek CUSA games under their new media package. No reason to beat them up here when we will all watch.

The Southland Conference would like to welcome it's newest member - Louisiana Tech.

No I mean the Mac. SBC is better all the way around that’s not even a debate and anyone that says otherwise hasn’t watched much football outside of the power 5 the last few years
