Soon to be one of only 14 pitchers with 3000 strikeouts and 250 wins. The others, minus Clemens***, are in and all were lead pipe locks except Blyleven.

Won a CYA, had postseason success and above average advanced stats.

The resume is solid, albeit not spectacular...but something feels off about his candidacy. I lean towards no.

Id say yes but should have to work his way up the ballot.

His longevity is a big help but hes been able to transition his style and actually have a very good era compared to his early years

Personally, I think there's only three active starting pitchers that are HOFers right now: Kershaw, Verlander, and Scherzer. I mean what makes Sabathia a better pitcher than David Cone? Outside of career wins, their numbers and accomplishments are very similar.

Borderline but I lean yes. 3000 Ks, 250 wins, a CY and a WS is a solid resume. The Ks make him a lock but he didn’t have enough “wow” elite seasons to be first ballot. He’ll steadily work his way up for a few years and then get in

Borderline

Don Sutton got in on his 5th year of eligibility.

Gonna take at least double that for CC.

Too fat and looks like a fat frick in pajamas .... not a baseball HOFer.

All that said...he will likely get in. Yankees almost always get in.

You can personally think that, but you would be wrong.

Barring an immediate injury Zack Greinke is going.

Kimbrell as well.

He’ll get in with his counting stats and that crazy run he went on in Milwaukee. But his 3.69 ERA and 3.73 FIP are very meh for a HoF pitcher.

The guy he’s going up against tonight is more deserving imo. Grienke has a higher career WAR in less seasons. He has a chance to join the 250 3000 club as well. shite he could end his career in the top 30 WAR for pitchers.

CC is a guy I could go either way on, and I see both sides of the argument.

This season will put him in both the 3k and 250 clubs, and he'd only be the 13th pitcher to be a member of both.

I think he'll be like Mussina. He'll spend several years on the ballot and finally get in after a while.

Makes Nolan Ryan's 5,000 strikeouts even more impressive to me. I don't care if he played for 137 years, guys getting to 3,000 is a marquis achievement. And he has 2,000+ more than that.
