He wants to be Russell Westbrook and expand his brand worldwide, but no one outside of the NFL circle cares about the guy.

Is Russell Westbrook popular outside of NBA circles or something?

The guy can go to China and be recognized. Cam would just be a tall black guy.

This post is the effect of a college program that got it's biggest boosters together and still couldn't come up with six figures

Maybe.. that’s not my call to make, but I’ll tell you this:

If he were the QB of MY favorite team, I swear to god I’d find a new team to root for.. I always talk shite about and mess with Carolina fans, but I know some of them are good people. I have zero fricking clue how they can root for that obnoxious POS

I think Cam, given the raw, generational athletic ability, probably did squander a chance to be a major "brand". Some of that due to his oddity, some probably due to the fact that he's played for a really uninteresting, largely star-free team his entire NFL career.

That said Russ seemed to be a weird comparison to use considering I find him to be quite a boring superstar athlete from a marketing perspective.

This is just so overstated by Saints people

I mean, unless you specifically go watch the pressers to see his outfits, Cam rarely makes news unless it's announcing the birth of a kid or some charitable thing. Panthers fans are probably upset with a relative lack of leadership/recent success at the QB position, but I suspect most of them realize he's also brought a fair amount of success to their team.

He's not getting in trouble all the time, he's not saying ridiculous stuff on Twitter, etc. The MSB is quite genuinely the epicenter of Cam Newton criticism on the entirety of the internet.

Yeah, it’s an outlier here because this board is made up largely of Saints/LSU fans.

Which I'm not really critical of because I avail myself of it, but I think some of these LSU/Saints fans would be shocked to learn the rest of the country doesn't care about/hate Cam Newton like they do.

Jesus Christ dude, you don’t have to be a saints fan to see his horrible body language. You don’t have to be a saints fan to see that cam whines and pouts like a little baby. You don’t have to be a saints fan to see that he’s too much of a miss priss to put his body on the line for his team during the SUPERBOWL. You don’t have to be a saints fan to see that his arrogance and his lack of preparation hurts his team when he’s supposed to be a leader.

But yea, everyone just dislikes him because they are saints fans

He’s not a franchise QB (and perhaps never was) and definitely lacks certain leadership qualities, but he’s not a horrible human being like many here make him out to be. He isn’t out driving drunk, assaulting women, having 9 kids with 7 women and not paying child support, starting shite with coaches/teammates on the regular, etc. like so many other athletes.

He’s just a weird guy who never lived up to expectations.

You frothing a the mouth about a guy the rest of the country shrugs at is exactly what I'm talking about. I even acknowledged his relatively poor leadership and you're still in here ranting about body language.

People don't hate him for the things you describe because it doesn't even occur to them to hate him at all. The rest of the country, even the rest of the NFC South, just isn't as eaten up with the guy.
