But don't be surprised if the Lakers just let Dwight walk.
Umm do they really have a say in this? Not like the dude is a restricted free agent.
Also, that is just laughable if anyone would even think the Warriors would give that much up in a S&T deal

He can't walk to GS, they don't have the caproom.

Bogut and either Thompson/Barnes is not overpaying for Howard. GS would be a damn strong team if they somehow landed Howard.

They don't use the one player who is a great offensive threat.
I hope you are referring to Gasol here...

if GS gives up Bogut and Barnes for Howard in a S&T, the Warriors would have a similar setup to what dwight had in Orlando in their prime:
Dump it into him, if the double comes over, kick out to Curry or Thompson and let them fire away.

Couple of things:
the succession paperwork with the League after Dr Buss died named Jeannie as the new principle owner, not her idiot brother
Dwight is using Dallas and Houston as leverage for the sign and trade with the Lakers because the difference is 4yr/$88mm vs 5yrs/$118mm
if the Lakers let Dwight walk they take him off the books, they amnesty Nash, they have Pau, Kobe and Artest expiring in next season
they are immediately a player in the game

I thought it was obvious.

Lakers can't amnesty Nash. Only options are Blake, Artest (my money is on him getting amnestied), Pau, or Kobe.

Rockets fans, what do you do with Asik if you sign Howard?
Trade Asik and Lin for Chris Paul.

Do you think he and Harden make you better than the Thunder?
Depends on what happens with Kevin Martin, what the Thunder do with their draft pick and how Lamb, Jones and Motiejunas do in their second years. I'd still give a small edge to OKC right now.

They can't amnesty Nash. My guess is that they would amnesty MWP.

Kobe will take one for the team and ask to be. That frees up a ton of room to sign Kevin Garnett and maybe some other pieces. The Lakers make up the difference for what they can't pay Kobe the following year on a per year basis by signing him to an extended maximum contract.

Lakers fans have to still be ticked about the Chris Paul deal getting squashed. Once they lose Howard they're going to be oooold.

-trade Nash to a contender for an expiring contract
-amnesty Artest
-trade Gasol for any cheap young talent you can
-sit Kobe the entire year (he will miss the first month or two anyways)
-tank and draft Andrew Wiggins
-bring back Kobe on cheaper contract
-sign max player
-????
-profit

I'm not surprised, but I also wouldn't sign him. He doesn't bring much value to the court.

It's interesting to think about the state of the Lakers currently if that trade went through.

Kobe Bryant is a crappy teammate.
Ugh. Just because today's players are too immature to handle someone riding your arse to get better doesn't make Kobe a crappy teammate. It's not his fault that he has a bunch of soft crybabies on his team.
Jordan was waaay harder on his teammates but you never heard anything because they weren't a bunch of pansies and they knew that if they pushed anywhere near as hard as he did they'd win titles.

^ Yep. That's why Howard is a terrible fit there.
Posted on 6/27/13 at 4:14 pm to ShamelessPel
Although what you said he partially correct. Kobe has always been known for being a shitty teammate til recently.

Has zero to do with Kobe. A big dude like Howard is not afraid of Kobe's punka arse. He said he just doesn't wanna play for D'Antione. Hates his system. If the Lakers got rid of him he would probably resign because he likes LA.
