Not even close. Bedard is better and he’s not better than Gretzky either.

Gretzky will never be passed as the GOAT.
That said, I don't think enough is being made about this record possibly being broken. Who would have ever thought it would happen? To me it's a bigger achievement than the Maris or Ruth HR records. And it didn't take steroids to do it. That we know of.

He’s the greatest at Stanley Cup victory parades. No one can come close to Ovechckin’s celebration.

People forget when he was traded to L.A. it was a Canadian national crisis....frick LeBron and the decision.... Gretzky to America was seismic he was so treasured.
And unlike LeBron....

Nah he's not even the best of his generation that's Crosby.
Crosby 1,615 points +212 in 1,219 games 3 rings
Ovechkin 1,573 points +55 in 1,443 games 1 ring

Yep.
But Ovechkin is a strong #2

Leading the league in goals as of this morning. Well, him, Reinhart, and Drais all tied for 13.

You cannot compare Crosby versus OV...two different positions and two different type of players
OV is arguably the greatest goal scorer all time, and I think easy to say the greatest LW in NHL history.
OV obviously leads the goals category, but when he is done he will be top 10 point scorers of all time and be one of the players not a center.
Also, since the league started keeping the stats in 2005, OV is 3rd all time in hits.

Gretzky and Tiger are the GOATS of the GOATS in my opinion.
I just think during the primes of their respective careers they were the best and we will never see better.

While that is true as far as direct comparison of stats, the reality is centers are more valuable than wingers. I’m not here to tear down Ovechkin, top 10 all time player, but Sid produced more points at a position that requires more both offensively and defensively.
Anyways, both Sid and Ovi deserve more respect in the wider sports landscape. Shame that the NHL screwed the pooch with their TV rights+ the lockout back in the mid aughts.
