Sounds like from the press release that our new female interim AD did the job our former male AD or daddy couldn't do. Apparently Kirk is not too pleased with this decision... I could see him hanging it up after the year.

I agree its dumb to keep him around for the remainder of the season...

He took a $50,000 pay cut and it was mandated by Iowa's administration that the Hawkeyes score at least 25 points per game (including a bowl game)

Funny factoid: No team in the Big 10 West is meeting this point threshold.

Iowa interim athletic director Beth Goetz announces offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz won’t return after the season. Goetz is Ferentz’s direct supervisor because of nepotism policies.

Why did they feel obligated to announce that today?

Because they got smacked by an Oar of the SS Boat this weekend. It's funny until you lose one of your rock fights to Minnesota.

I think it was leaked by a player or something... the way the statement reads is that they wanted this not to get released.

I've been absolutely fascinated the last couple of years watching Kirk hold the entire program hostage just so he could have sonny as a coordinator. I thought Jeff Bowden and Bobby were bad but I don't know how the Iowa defensive players didn't revolt

Agree. Kirk is likely done after this year. TheBig 10 west party is over. McNamara and Brown cost them a ton of $$ and they really didn’t need them. It was a good ride but the new big 10 and how Iowa fits in will be interesting in the next few years.

Ferentz the Elder has a big contract that goes through 2028 or 2030. They're probably praying he resigns over his clownshow son being fired as they certainly don't want to buy him out.

And just like that Iowa eliminates their chances of ever getting Mike Tomlin to coach their team.

Kirk would be a fine head coach to stick around and just let his coordinators do the job. Phil Parker at DC is on cruise control. ST is rolling. Just hire a competent OC and get out of his way.

Basically, retire in place. Make the big decisions like go for it on 4th or kick (trust me, he's kicking), and just reap the rewards of your coaches efforts.

I fully expect him to do exactly what Chryst did his last season after it being suggested he hire an OC. He'll just hire a guy that will run the exact same offense he has run for decades and nothing will change because you can't recruit enough good players to that system.

No highly rated QBs or WRs will even return a call to play in that shite.

Hell, the piss poor offense at UW even effected recruiting on the defensive side of the ball as those guys like to be a winning team too. Busting your arse on D to see the offense put up 10 points sucks. Recruits had said specifically that the offense concerned them under Chryst.

I remember that highly rated LB from Louisiana that went to USC saying that for one example. He's starting as a freshman.

Tackett Curtis? Curtis Rackett? Something like that...

The best part was when Iowa got the ball back super late in a game (week 1?) and already had the game won and could’ve kicked a meaningless FG (and help his son get the numbers he needed) or just kneel it and Ferents just knelt it

Absolutely savage

You don’t think he’s aware of the contract? There’s no way he resigns over this.

I didn't say he would.

I said they, meaning the AD and a lot of fans, are probably praying he resigns. They probably don't think he will either but it doesn't mean they aren't wishing for it.
