As the great Chipper Jones said, only "douchebags" call Atlanta "Hotlanta."

Shouldn't it be hosted in an AFC stadium?

Somewhere outdoor and in cold location.

arent there significant repairs going on in the Dome that would make it impossible to host? Bummer

Reno was scheduled to begin right after the season ends I believe. I suppose it could be postponed since they would have had to postpone the work if the saints made it in anyway.

How about Atlanta, that stadium always empty that time of the year

Why can't Falcons field a championship team nowadays?

Superdome would be home field advantage for Joey B and the Bengals

What’s your point? They are getting hosed overall in this even if they played the game at the “neutral site” of Tiger Stadium. It would still be a road trip for them when all of these games should probably run through Cincy.

Did they book that mid-October? What would they have done if the Colts wound up hosting?
Probably have a clause in the contract to either cancel or have an alternate date if the home team is still in the running to host a potential championship game by a certain date

Cincinnati will be there. Unless the Chiefs lose this week, the AFC championship will be in KC again.

You mean if neither Cincy nor Buffalo make it?

Because the agreed to conditions state that if the two participants played an unequal number of games and both teams had a chance at the #1 seed in a 17 game regular season.

Cincy and Buffalo will have played 16 games, while KC will have played 17. And there were scenarios for all 3 to have locked up the #1 seed in a 17 game schedule.

At this point, the only way the AFC Championship is not played at a neutral site is if Cincy and Buffalo don't make it past the Divisional Round.

They must be testing the waters for going to neutral site championship games in the future.

Yeesh.

I hate that this tragic injury will lead to the bloodsuckers figuring out a way to make more money. Imagine having the best team in the conference and losing home field advantage because the owners can make an extra $10 million at a neutral site.

If KC wins tomorrow, Bengals never had a chance so Bengals would have to go to Arrowhead correct?

Yep, just looked at the actual rules, only way Bengals get neutral field is both KC and Bills lose.

Superdome is the site where the Greatest College Football Team of the Playoff Era completed their season and Joey B was there QB and I would love to see the Bengals in the Dome

probably this. Id imagine the contract is worded for the colts specifically not the NFL. Or else you bet your arse they’d tell the tournament to frick off. NFL would bring more money.

I must be late to the party. What is going on? Why is the NFL looking at a predetermined, neutral site for the AFC champ game??

Well then they aren't even abiding by their own conditions, because that's clearly not based on everyone playing a 17 game schedule.

With a 17 game schedule, there was a path for Cincy to get to the 1. That died with the cancellation of Bills/Bengals.

They might as well just say Cincy is eliminated from that part of the conversation, and this only applies to Buffalo/KC.

Let's play the what-if game for a second. If Cincy had beat Buffalo, both teams are 12-4 at that point, but Cincy has the tiebreaker now and moved into the 2 seed. Now Buffalo's result in Week 18 is irrelevant if Cincy beats Baltimore. So it comes down to the KC/LV result. If KC loses and both Cincy and Buffalo win, there is a 3 way tie for the best record in the AFC, with Cincy getting the 1 seed by virtue of head-to-head wins over both KC and Buffalo.

So Cincy is getting screwed because they are stuck with 1 more loss than Buffalo now, which is the only reason Cincy needs both teams to lose this weekend.

that’s why that clause is in there. That was Cincys path to the 1 with a win over Buffalo.
