Indiana players are eligible again They should have to forfeit any games

Indiana defensive linemen Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt are eligible to play again after a judge granted them a preliminary injunction in their case against the NCAA.
Monroe Circuit Court Judge Kara Krothe ruled Wednesday that Daley and Wyatt, along with a list of dozens of other athletes that includes Miami men's basketball player Malik Reneau, could play a fifth season of college sports following the NCAA's implementation of the five-for-five rule this summer.
Both Daley and Wyatt were unable to play in Indiana's 38-0 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday after their temporary restraining order expired last week. A hearing in the case was held Sept. 14 ahead of Krothe's injunction ruling.
Wednesday's ruling reinstates that the NCAA and its conferences cannot prohibit any of the case's plaintiffs from competing in Division I athletics during the 2026-27 season on the basis that they have already competed in four seasons or didn't enter the transfer portal.
"Under the plain terms of the 2026-27 NCAA Manual, they are eligible to compete, and the NCAA is breaching its contractual obligations by denying them that opportunity," Krothe wrote.
The NCAA is expected to appeal.

The issue isn’t NCAA eligibility. It’s conference rules. Conferences haven’t had an issue letting back players who didn’t sign an UDFA contract.

I've seen zero prior to 2026.

One that they retroactively expanded to include "declared for the draft" as a disqualifier. I'm interested to see what the SEC tries to do with Saliou Niang, the international basketball player LSU is trying to roster this year. Niang has never played HS or college basketball in the US. He's never signed an "NBA contract". However, he was drafted by Cleveland in the 2nd round of the 2025 NBA draft (though he never played for Cleveland)
The irony is until recently (and maybe they still do), the NCAA expressly allowed certain college basketball players to declare for the draft and return to college if they went undrafted. Now, at the same school we have this juxtaposition. LSU has a freshman pitcher on the baseball team who was drafted in the 2nd round by Cleveland this year but chose not to sign. The NCAA/SEC says that is just fine. However, it's NOT fine for a basketball player in the same circumstances simply because he "declared" for the draft. However, in doing so he didn't leave a US college. He never played US college basketball.
The NCAA keeps losing these lawsuits because they have poor legal arguments. Because of the Sorsby episode the conferences now think they've found the golden ticket to ignore the court rulings by retroactively changing rules and suing member schools. So far the conferences have prevailed because the school essentially capitulated. But I'm hopeful someone litigates this matter because I suspect they would win and the conferences, as we know them, would cease to exist in their current form. That was going to happen eventually. So I say lets just get on with it.

So this judge went a step further in saying the conferences can't prohibit.
Is the Big 10 going to sue them like the SEC sued LSU?

HS players getting drafted and refusing to sign has been a thing for years.

Wonder how this will impact the fact that MLB will draft damn near any HS baseball player that is good enough to start on a D1 roster
