Curious...when was the last time LSU played Southern in football? I have a bad memory...
LSU : Southern :: Tech : Grambling
Being that Southern and Grambling are about the same--low-level FCS schools from a conference who, like the Ivy League, doesn't participate in the FCS playoffs in part because it is not good enough to play up to the competition--it is far different for LSU to avoid SU than for LT to avoid GSU.
LSU also won't play Nicholls, SLU, etc. If it plays an FCS school (which I hate), it's always one of the top-tier FCS schools.
Tech is a bottom feeder. They get less than 20K per game, no one cares whether or not they exist, and they avoid GSU and ULM and ULL because they think they're too big to play them.

Football =/= Baseball games. Much more condensed fandom in baseball with less idiocy from fans. I think you underestimate how retarded people are.
no i don't .. i actually live here in BR ... there are very little, if any racial issues between lsu and southern fans .. first of all, you are mostly talking about relatively affluent people attending games, a lot of which are college educated ... these groups are really above all of that shite .. seriously .. you don't have street thugs running rough shod at southern games ... southern fans are some of the nicest, classiest people you'd ever want to meet ... more fights break out at lsu-ole miss games ..

Dude, honestly, I know that. But that's like arguing that Bossier and Shreveport are two separate cities. You're right, but you're wrong. You know what I mean?
When I was in Ruston, there was a lot of mixing and exchanging between the students (restaurants/bars)

I wasn't making an analogy at all. You did actually.
It was a simple, honest question that popped up in my head. Wasn't trying to make a point at all

seriously .. if you are laughing at that .. you really know nothing about the two schools .. do affluent, educated people in the stands get into fights because they are drunk or just overall jackasses ?? sure .. saw plenty at the ole miss and alabama games ... would lsu and southern fans get in fights in the stands purely over racial issues .. i really don't think so ... i really think an southern/lsu comparison is not a good one relative to grambling/louisiana tech ... historically, there were years grambling could have handed la. tech their asses .. that has never been the case between lsu and southern ..

and don't forget the fact that a grambling/la tech game would be FAR more competitive than an LSU/southern game would ..

I AM NOT MAKING AN ANALOGY. I SIMPLY ASKED A QUESTION OUT OF CURIOSITY. THUS ME PUTTING 'JUST CURIOUS' AFTER THE QUESTION.
You need to come back down to earth. Seriously? Affluence and education? Yes, LSU and Southern are both fine institutions of higher learning, but to think that all the fans who 'claim' fandom and represent each schools are affluent, educated, and rational is frankly a little dumb.

Please keep this thread going. It's so funny to see these posts. And to the person who said Tech-Grambling would be competitive.

Also, if the first three minutes are any indication they will beat tulane tonight

And xiv, you still haven't given me any legit reason why Tech couldn't be the next 'Utah' or 'Boise St'.
The only reason you need is LSU. Is there an LSU type school in Utah or Idaho. Who do either of these schools compete against for recruits? I haven't looked at their rosters but I'm sure they are pulling players from all the surrounding states as well. Unless LSU decides to move to another state, Tech and all other LA schools will suffer whether LSU is good or not. Like it or not, they are the state school. And I am a ULM grad and fan. But I'm not delusional like many Tech and Tulane fans. ULL as well.

Man you are on point with all your posts. I understand what Tech wants to be and admire them for that, but they are unwilling to admit that they are no better now than they were when they moved to 1A. ULM and ULL are in the same boat. They want to beleive that they are so far beyond ULM, but the numbers just don't prove it. Sure they owned ULM the last 7 or 8 times they played. But they forget that ULM owned them pretty much all of the 80s. That's the way it goes. I guess they want to quit while they are ahead.
