And kudos to ULM for flipping the bird to Tech and cancelling all the other series with them. Tech won't play ULM in football, so ULM won't play them in anything else. I think the entire Sun Belt should follow suit and stick it in Tech's butt.

How exactly is that going to hurt Tech?

Tech has already acknowledged that this hurts them. The non-revenue sports no longer have that rival 30 miles away. They will end up travelling more and spending more money.

so, do you actually think that playing the WAC is a good thing for tech ? you actually think having a traveling budget that includes trips to fresno, boise, and honululu to name a few is a good thing when you don't have money coming in from home game revenue ?? throw on top of that all of the non-revenue sports that you have to support thanks to title IX ... you ain't bringing shite in money-wise in basketball .. i think southern university in BR draws more for home hoops games ... no one around ruston can identify with any rivalries you have in the WAC ..

ETA: and with the woeful condition the indy bowl is in financially, you are in line behind alabama, colorado, and northern illinois for bowl money .. i'm guessing that the WAC schools are really thrilled with this ..

northern illinois for bowl money

Tech will be getting 900K and NIU will get about 150K, so how exactly will Tech be behind NIU for bowl $$?

And xiv, you still haven't given me any legit reason why Tech couldn't be the next 'Utah' or 'Boise St'.

Like I said before, in the 70's and 80's every one would have laughed if you said Utah would be where they are today.

show me a link on that .. there's no way NIU comes down here for $150K .. it prolly cost them twice that to travel here ... why on earth would a bowl give a school less than 100 miles away six times the money that they do to the traveling school ?? the payouts per school are equal and each school splits the payout after expenses with each school in the conference and the conference office ... why would northern illinois LOSE money to play in a bowl game ? and no, don't give me recruiting or TV exposure .. pretty sure the chargers-broncos trumped that classic ...

Tech sold all 12K of their alloted tickets and NIU only sold 2-3K

actually talking about the possibility in the next three years .. LSU plays southern regularly in basketball and baseball, fwiw ... and racism wouldn't be an issue since there are prolly more black kids on the LSU team than there is on the southern team ... same would hold true in a tech/grambling game ..

a. it is absolutely pathetic that a I-A program not accustomed to going to bowl games can only bring 12,000 fans to a bowl game less than an hour away ...

b. ticket sales have NOTHING to do with the payouts given to each school ... the payouts are generated up front by the bowls themselves as private businesses ... this is generated through their corporate sponsorships, television revenues, etc. .. for a bowl game to be sanctioned by the NCAA, the bowl has to pay out equally to both schools ... this isn't boxing ...

eta: once again, show me a link to this 900K/150K payout disparity ..

I wasn't really talking about racism between the players...more of the fans in general.

Grambling/Tech relationship does not equal the Southern/LSU relationship.

Also, I asked the question of past games because I was wondering if there were any instances of racism in Baton Rouge due to the football games. If LSU consistently played Southern beat them 9 times out of 10...I could imagine some animosity.

there wouldn't be any at all ... LSU beat southern like 30 times in a row in baseball before southern finally won one ... the fans from both schools get along very well .. this is sports afterall .. it's not about deciding who sits where on a bus ..

ULM/GSU went off without a hitch. Are you saying that Ruston is that much more racist than Monroe?

Football =/= Baseball games. Much more condensed fandom in baseball with less idiocy from fans. I think you underestimate how retarded people are.

Case in point

yes, i am fully aware of this .. petro sun defaulted on their agreement, hence alabama and colorado still not having their money from last year's game ... and the indy bowl has one calendar year to find a sponsor or bye bye NCAA sanctioning ... the state of louisiana is actually picking up a lot of the tab for this year's game and helped out with last year's game as well ... please bring more than one sentence responses to the conversation ...
