That is a great choice. 1992 was the Pirates last chance.

It’s been different watching the Saints the last 2 seasons because of that PI no-call. It still makes me angry.

I was over the Minnesota miracle in a week

Completely agree. The Vikings game was a fluke thing, it sucked at the time but it doesn’t really haunt me.

The rams game felt like my soul was stolen from me. I don’t know that I’ll ever get over that one.

I agreee with your points. BUT, this isn't really about follow up seasons that made them feel better.

I think for a fanbase to be ‘killed’ the suffering has to be prolonged, not necessarily one year. That’s why I wouldn’t include the Spurs loss to the Heat.

Norwood kick is a great one. I think Buffalo lacked confidence in the follow up SB appearances. Just look at the Dallas games.

LSU Auburn Basaball 2019

This is still one of the most insane endings in a game. Not too sure it killed Auburns fanbase, but still

Eh, 2 Super Bowl apps and 1 title since. Many fanbases would take that.

After reliving every crappy LSU and Saints moment in this thread (thanks OP ) it's really not even close for me.

I was there and I've never experienced anything close to it. The visceral reaction at the moment and then the empty feeling afterwards is the only time sports has ever done that to me.

The thing that makes it so different is that part of the disappointment was it being Drew's last best chance. That turned out being true and makes it feel permanent to me. Even if the Saints win the SB again, he won't be there. To me, that makes it worse than say, 2011 LSU. The 2019 season erased that for me. I don't think that possibility exists for the no-call. At least for me.

This is the one. I was 15 when this happened and the Pirates didn't have a winning season again until I was 35.

The real heartbreaker about this, is that Sid Bream scored that run and was a Pirate for six or seven seasons before joining the Braves.

This game still sticks with me.

2013 ALCS game 2. Red Sox lost the first game and Detroit was up 5-1, bottom of the 8th with 2 outs, threatening to head back to Detroit up 2-0 in the series.

Then this happened and Detroit lost the series in 6.

There's only 1 play that truly killed a fan base. None other qualify.

The play: Red 2 Cheater HD slide sidepiece
