Lol what a completely irrational response, you sound well adjusted.

The NFL will still easily be the highest rated sport in the US. They'll be just ok but rage on.

It is not just dissatisfaction with the product, add to the fact that many don't have the money to pay for tickets, merchandise, can't go to bars.

And how much are business willing to spend the same amount of money for commercials.

The economy is going to hurt the NFL and their politics gives many a reason to reevaluate their priorities.

The NFL will still be King but there will be a decline this year. How steep? I don’t know and not even sure how much my interest will drop.

I’ve spent way too much of my life on sports and recent events have put things in perspective.

Goodell’s bountygate was the first shoe to drop.

Then the “no call”
Then the BLM political BS.

I will Not watch shite this season.

Was in the northeast this week and spoke with two die hard Philadelphia Eagle fans and they said they were done. Also spoke with a Cowboys fan from New York who said he was done. The guys were all in their 50’s

I'm expecting it to be similar to MLB. First couple of days there were a lot of people I meet that said frick'em. But after a week, a lot of the politics disappeared from the stadiums. Most people I talk to say they still don't turn it on at home, but they watch when they are out.

Yes, the general fan base is much more lukewarm about their fandom than posters on a sports message board. So it stands to reason it would take even less to turn them off. But, you knew that...
I'm not buying that. The casual fan doesn't care about all of the extra stuff. They just want to have the game on while talking with friends or hanging out at a bar.

I guess a casual fan that's arse deep into political drama would be a different story.

I think this will be pretty accurate across the nation. Younger or immature guys won't care, they will watch. Older guys will tend to not watch or support it in any way. Just a question of what is important to you.

I can tell you as a company we won't spend another dime on the NFL or NBA. Already told our people don't ask. I could care less if they play, don't play, ratings go up or go down. It is a personal choice. Of course I don't go to Starbucks either.

We are in oil & gas. We make a variety of proprietary valves for topside and subsea applications. Some of our products are used for Nitrogen Charging of Accumulator bottles but most of our products are used in drilling and production control applications. Our product are used with water-based hydraulic control fluids to open/close larger valves for well control.

FYI... We were club level season ticket holders for the Texans for 9 years. I went maybe twice a year. The NFL in-person experience just isn't that great in my opinion. The tickets were for clients. College Football... we go everywhere with A&M. If college football goes the direction of the NFL and NBA we will stop going to those games also. It would be hard to stop watching college football but it has been unbelievably easy for me to stop watching the NFL and the NBA and of course ESPN. Just how I am.

Venezuela had lots of asshats like you circa 1978.

Why would the nfl be any different than baseball and bouncy ball?

Tbh, with many players already opting out. And if the NFL season goes anything like what MLB is doing, with multiple games being cancelled after someone tests positive, then yea those sound like pretty legit reasons for ratings to drop.

So you're going with the NASCAR strategy of how to grow your fan base, alienate your die hard fans and cater to the casual viewers. That worked out so well for NASCAR I'm sure the NFL will follow.

Since sports came back I have not watched a second of the NBA, barely watched any MLB though I have listened to Cubs radio broadcasts, and I turn my TV on to the NHL at 11 am and it is on all day and night. Not happy about that BS Canadian Matt Dumba pulled kneeling for the American flag but standing for the Canadian flag but there are too many good guys in the NHL to quit that sport.

When football comes back I'm not sure. I'll watch some but it won't be can't miss TV like it has been for me in the past.

The NFL won't need a spin. They will be ok. But a global pandemic might put a dent in anything going on.
