How does an undefeated SEC team not get to play for a NCAA championship? That is still a crime. Why is it college football is the only time there is no playoff system to determine a team sport champion? There is a playoff in every other sport including football in every single level from pop warner to the NFL.. but not in college? I don't like determining off speculation. I agree every conference should have 1 champion and they should seed a playoff. That is every bit as exciting as a bowl game. Just my opinion, and it's fine to disagree but it's amazing how many people are absolutely bashing the OP for his opinion. Again I understand the points on both sides.. but I still don't like the BCS.

Thanks...

There is a huge flaw in this where teams in a stronger conference have a harder time winning their conference just to get in the playoff and OOC games would essentially be meaningless.

Yes, I see your point, such as with the modern SEC where it might be harder to win your Conference then to make it past Round 1(such as if you faced Houstin this year or something?)

However, 2 issues with your statement.
1)If you think your Conference is too hard(SEC for instance) then simply move to a Diff Conference and don't bitch. No one has a gun to a schools head. Find another Conference if you think so. But you know they will desire the huge money that such a Conference gets, such as PAC or SEC or such so a team would be foolish to leave. But still, they are not forced to stay, so don't bitch. You control your own destiny....

2)OOC game would NOT essentially be meaningless. Despite the fact that they would rake in TONS more money for the schools, because of better OOC matchups(Bama vs Texas for instance)and better viewing pleasure for fans/excitement, if you lost OOC games that would still effect the BCS seeding area. And would you rather be seeded against the what you thought was the 2nd best team in America or the 8th best and hope to get a auto first round win? I would agree, OOC games not as meaningful to ones record in theory, but very meaningful in other ways(money, seeding ect). And it's the very fact that a team can afford to lose one big hot game(such as Oregon playing LSU this year)and be brave enough to schedule such, but yet still have a shot a winning their Conference and making it in...that such a thing would draw all kinds of schools desiring to be brave and schedule tough OOC. It's a win, win. And all the fans would love it! Unless of course you would miss all those rent-a-wins that the SEC plays?

If they aren't in a BCS conference then they have no case for being in either the BCSNCG or a playoff at all.

How dare you twist that guys words! You misquoted him. You took out one word, "SEC". If you are going to quote him, do not subtract from his words. He said, "How does an undefeated SEC team not get in..."
You are a lying troll and have showed yourself such!

I don;'t know or care what you mean by this.

easily stand by my statement. And ESPN did a poll after it was announced Bama got in and Okie Lite got left out and all the whole Nation thought that was wrong except for one state, Bama. Hmmm, wonder why?

Ever heard the expression apples and oranges? This comparison is as meaningless as it is stupid. Aside from the fact and ESPN poll is not scientific, it doesn't tell us WHY, people felt that way. As you point out, teams are being selected, when only picking 2, or course most people don't want to see a rematch of a 9-6 game. I agree that OSU should have gone based on this system of picking 2 teams because they beat more ranked teams and won their conference. There is no amount of teams greater than 2 that I think should exclude Alabama from a playoff.

quote:

Now how in the world were my comments idiotic? I think you show that indeed you are the idiot if you what I said went over your head. lol

The are idiotic for several reasons. 1 being the apples and oranges comparison. You are just using arbitarty bondries. The way pro sports are set up teams from the same division play in league or conference titles all the time, they can't play for the title based on the rules in pro sports, but you can still have regional match ups. I'll guarentee you a Yankees-Red Sox WS would get better ratings nationally than Yankees-Mets.

In other college sports, teams from the same conference and division can and do play for the title all the time (see 2011 CWS) and people don't object, not because there are more games, but because there is a playoff before hand.

The issue people have with LSU and Bama playing is only 2 teams get picked, go do national poll and see how may people would prefer your system over just taking the top 8 teams. No one would care is LSU and Alabama wound up in the title game is they played 3-4 playoff games to get there.
quote:

All I can say is the vast majority, for CFB, does not want to see SEC vs SEC. That does pull in the rest of the Nations interest. If you are too brain cell challenged to comprehend that, then I suggest you wait until the day after and read the TV ratings it got compared to the first time LSU and Bama met...

*You Failed. You get a D- for effort though in your attempt.

I have failed at nothing except for making you run away and cry like you should have. You are the one with a comprehension problem, that's why you keep changing the argument. No one wants to see SEC v SEC in the BCS because most people hate the BCS and want a playoff. No one would want to see a playoff with So Miss in and Alabama out.

As for the ratings the BCS CG will blow away the regualr season game of 6.1 or so. My guess its close to last year's 15.29.

your proposal is an even bigger atrocity.

11 conference winners, 5 at large, that gives you everything you want and doesn't make a joke out of the playoff, why don't you address this proposal?

So since your conference is tough you are pressured to join a conference that is less stable and your team loses money because they get less marquee matchups and might have to travel longer distances.

Is the risk worth the reward. In these games you risk injuring your starters before your important conference games. This game becomes meaningless if you don't win your conference.

I think I have already made myself clear. When the word National Champion is used, I want it to truly be a "NATIONAL" Champion.

I myself would be just as ticked if it was Stanford vs Oregon or such. If it ended up being Bama and Auburn that would leave it would 49 other states fans who would tune out mainly. To put this in SEC speak, how would you feel if it ended up being Oregon vs Oregon ST? Oh, so now you see? You SEC folks would scream bloody murder and you know so!

I do confess, that the more the teams you enter into it, the easier it is to swallow. The other reason is because it would make too long a season. The hope in all this is for a easy BCS fix. Not some season long, complicated, clusterfrick. As it is, half of the country likes bowls, half want to do away with them and have a playoff. In order to not have a longer season, and to keep bowls, your idea is WAY too many teams. I personally think plus `1(4 teams) is much better then we have. But I do not feel it is perfect. I really do think BSU type teams would easily be left out, even if undefeated. The corruption in the power system already left them out of this years sugar bowl only because that bowl assumed Vir Tech would sell out more tickets. lol. Look how lower ranked Vir TEch is then BSU.... BSU got screwed. You telling me that in a 4 team playoff they would not get screwed even worse when the stakes are a billion times higher?

Plus whose to say a power conference might just have tons of parity that year and their 1 or 2 loss top team might not still be the Nations best. Such as Wisky this year...

So, I think your idea blows... but to each his own.

What about if it was Miami against Florida? Pitt vs Penn State. Should those teams be punished for being in the same state even though they didn't play each other and were the #1 and #2 teams.

So since no one in the nation wants to watch the game except the deep south and the ratings are gonna be the worst ever, you won't be watching right?

Not because of that... but correct, I will not be watching the Natty this year. And 85% of my friends, and friends Nationwide are doing the same.
But to each his own.

Didn't read, but there's no one in their right mind that can say the 2 best teams in the country aren't playing for the national championship this year.

#1 plays against #1A on Jan 9th. Nothing is accomplished with 1 playing # 4 with multiple losses in an inferior conference.

Oregon Fan? Why are you complaining?

You have a chance to play in the title every year if you just win out, which you didn't. But I don't see why you are complaining because you got the next best thing which is a BCS bowl bid.
