Ever since his inaugural 10-3 season, he has went 7-6,4-8,7-6, and now 3-4 so far this year. That equals to 21-24 since that first year. I don't foresee the "Skullet" lasting much longer.

Should have been fired at the airport last night.

If we fired Bill Stewart for 9-3 seasons, Dana should be shitcanned yesterday. He's made 4-5 game losing streaks the norm at WVU

I'd hope they can at least get a coach that can teach fundamentals and disciplined football.

The penalties, the drops, the missed assignments haven't gotten better under Dana in 5 years - in fact it's gotten worse.

This is what happens when you hire alcoholics to run a major program. At least Huggins can pull it off.

The only thing more than confusing than why he was hired was why he was fired. What the hell did they expect from him? He was a nobody and they were consistently good with him around. Reminds me of Gene Chizik. Make what appears to be an atrocious hire and it works out. Then he's fired.

I wouldn't say his teams were "good" but Bill doesn't get enough credit for keeping the program afloat during a tumultuous time. People just like to hate on him because he was a good ole boy from WV.

I liked Dana at first, but he's not a head coach. I've accepted the fact that he'll end up as an OC at a Big 12 school and hang 60 on us every time we play, but either way he needs to go.

Dude has no idea how to run a P5 program.

I remember when LSU fans on here were slobbering over him as a great and up coming coach that was going to be better than Miles

I believe the WVUs/VaTechs prospered while many of the power teams were down. Most have recovered and as a result the wannabes are back to struggling. We won't see those two or a South Florida back in the top 10 for a while.

Their conference affiliation is the bigger problem.

Texas, OU, Florida, Bama, LSU, Ohio State, USC, and even Penn State had great teams in the mid 2000's. WVU prospered because of Pat White.

DH is a better head coach than Bill Stewart ever was. Period. Yes, Bill held it together for the Fiesta Bowl, and every WVU fan should be forever grateful to him for that, but the man should never, NEVER, have had the interim tag removed. That was obvious to the entire country by the 3rd game of the following season.

So it should be obvious that saying DH is a better coach isn't saying much. I don't think he's got much longer at the program, but I honestly don't know who else we would get that would be definitively better. The challenges facing any potential hire are greater than at any other P5 school. No in-state talent (and I mean none), so they have to be able to go into the backyards of our local rivals (PA, MD, VA) and recruit like hell to steal some kids. And they have to be able to do that, while playing in a conference that is as awkward a fit as one could imagine, with an absolutely brutal travel schedule.

I don't know man. I am just sort of at a loss as to what the path forward is right now.

Based on what? Both won a BCS game, both had a same Big East record (5-2). Dana's Big 12 record is 11-20 including a beatdown to KANSAS, giving them their first conference win in 3 YEARS.

Bill wasn't very good either, but there's no evidence that Dana is any better. At least Bill was able to recruit a good qb.

If you think we suck in the Big12 with Dana it would be much worse under Bill.

I'm currently at West Virginia in my still running NCAA 2014 dynasty, so I feel some kinship with y'all at the moment. Hope it works out

Dana's record in the B12 sucks, sure. And in 2013, we did lose to bottom dwellers Kansas and Iowa State. But then we did something the following year that we never, ever did under Bill. In 2014, under DH, we got better. And we did it while facing competition so much tougher than anything Bill ever faced that it is insulting to try and compare the schedules.

This year has been a step back, but is anyone honestly surprised we came out of October with 4 straight loses? That was the toughest opening stretch to conference play any team in the Big 12 has ever faced. Each of the 4 teams we just lost too currently sits in the top 13/14 teams in the country, including 2 in the top 5. That is an insane stretch.

It honestly amazes me that some people seem to forget Bill Stewart coming off the Fiesta Bowl, returning Pat frickin White (along with most of the rest of the team), and getting skull fricked in week 2 to ECU (that loss was worse than the Kansas loss). Then turning around and becoming the laughing stock of all of college football the next week when his inability to understand how a time-out works.

Sorry man, I don't dislike Bill Stewart, but his tenure as HC was an absolute joke. The only people who can't see that are (some) Mountaineer fans.
