First ballot, guaranteed.

He’s got twice as many NFC championships as Brady!!!!

Eli does not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. He basically Trent Dilfer'ed his way to two SB wins.

If two SB gets you in the Hall then why is Jim Plunkett not in?

Family name. If his name was Eli Plunkett, we don’t have this conversation.

I agree that his stats aren't the greatest, but those 2 Super Bowl runs where he beat the Patriots weren't a fluke. People get into the Hall of Fame for less than that. His accomplishments were notable and we're sitting here talking about him. He's more than a foot note or also ran. Why is Joe Namath in the Hall of Fame? Because he guaranteed a Super Bowl win in SB III and he delivered. His career was pretty pedestrian otherwise.

Ideally never

0 All-Pro teams
1 season Top 5 at his position (2011)
.500 as a starter (117-117)
1.5 TD/INT ratio
60.3% completion
7.0 YPA
84.1 career rating

He doesn't even have a strong case for the Hall of Very Good. It's an embarrassment that he'd be considered for the Hall of Fame.

Second ballot at best. Maybe longer should be longer. But the NFL HOF is easiest for QB’s

Eli was a good NFL QB that went on a couple nice playoff runs. He should not be in the HOF

You can argue he wasn’t even that good.

His QB rating for his career is 84.1, the exact same as Joe Flacco, and worse than Sam Bradford, Matt Schaub, and Jay Cutler. That’s 4 very average QBs that played at the same time as Eli. Not just the same era, but their careers coincided with Eli’s.

Tony Romo was another contemporary of Eli. Romo won 61% of his games, and has a 97.1 QB rating.

Eli’s winning percentage was 11 points lower than Romo’s, and his QB rating was 13 points lower. But was Eli a much better QB in the playoffs?

Playoffs:
Romo: 4/1 TD/Int ratio
93 rating

Eli: 2/1 TD/Int ratio
87 rating

Namath isn’t his peer.

Relative to their peers, Namath led the league in passing yards 3 times and was top 5 6 times. Top 5 in TDs 7 times, passer rating 4 times, and passing yds per game 7 times. 5 pro bowls and 1x all pro.

Eli? Top 5 in yards 3x, never higher than 4th. 4x top 5 in TDs, never top 5 in passer rating and only a single season top 10, and 1x top 5 TDs per game. 4 pro bowls, never all pro.

Yeah, Eli is substantially worse than Namath relative to his peers.

Imagine that he doesn’t have a brother named Peyton.
Now look at his numbers and accolades.

Still think he’s a no brain shoe in?

I’m also on the Namath is overrated vs the way history/the media views him, but he was also the first ever to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. That was a significant accomplishment. He was also All Pro once and had several pro bowl selections (back when being named to the pro bowl actually meant something). I’d venture to say for 2 or 3 seasons he was regarded as a Top 3 or Top 5 QB in the league.

I’m not sure Eli Manning has even one season under his belt where he was overwhelmingly considered at least a Top 5 QB.

That throw to Tyree is not something an average qb makes and completes. He should be in ASAP.

This throw to Mario Manningham on the Giants’ game winning drive in Super Bowl XLVI is way more impressive

Eli is Joe Flacco with two clutch playoff runs as opposed to one.

A quick google search shows the HOF is open 9A-5P 7 days a week. If he buys his ticket online, he could probably get in as soon as the doors open.

Things people shouldn't care about.

He made All-Pro 0 times. Neither first nor second team.

Based on the era he played, his yards don't matter.

His completion % is that of someone who played in the dead ball era TBH, the 1970's when passing was brutal. He has roughly the same completion % of Ken Stabler while playing in the pass-happy no defense allowed, can't touch the QB or WRs era.

He won a SB against supposedly the greatest offense of all-time in the 2007 Patriots because his defense held them to 14 points.

If the committee had any honor, they wouldn't let him in. But they'll wait about 5 years and then he'll get in.

If he did the exact same thing for Tampa Bay or Detroit he doesn't even sniff Canton. But, he played in New York so we'll just accept this farce.

I personally think he's not HOF worthy, but his numbers are similar in his era relative to his peers numbers as Joe Namath's were in his and he won two Super Bowl's two to Joe's one (though like Joe's the defense had as much or more to do with his SB wins) and he played in New York so he's getting in. May take a couple of times through though.

He didn’t have a HOF career, stats wise, but he was in NY and won 2 SBs. I think he gets in similar to Namath.

Are there any QBs with 2+ SB wins not in the HOF?
