Are we ruling out the possibility of him being a unicorn?

I mean, he does prance off the field when he goes to the sidelines

Mahomes, is nowhere near these numbers.
You want to see something Brady isn’t near? Mahomes actual Qb play

Mahomes

66%—303 yards/g—2.4 tds/g—0.6 int/g—105.2 rating

Brady

64%—266 yards/g—1.94 tds/g—0.6 int/g—97.2 rating

You don't have to win as many as the best to be considered the best, but you certainly have to win some.

You're basically saying that even if Mahomes never won a Super Bowl you would have him as the best ever.

You said he's the GOAT now

My only reservation is that, at one point Rodgers was "obviously" going to be the GOAT but the team aspect of the game kind of fricked that up.

This is a fair point.

Rodgers didn't have the 3 SBs/2 wins but he was every bit as good as Mahomes his 1st 5 years starting and Rodgers still to this date has kinda by far and away the highest 5 year level of sustained play at the QB position, even better than Mahomes 1st 5 seasons.

And since then he's been hit or miss between uber elite and just good to really good.

In year 6, Rodgers didn't have nearly the accomplishments and Mahomes has already gone to 5-straight conference title games. Their trajectory is on different levels.

I do like the question of whether or not Mahomes is a HOF already. I think he is. Like if we assume he has an Alex Smith injury and takes a step back for the rest of his career, he'll still have enough to be in the HOF.

Brady has the team accomplishments of Mahomes early without the elite individual play. The combination of both is what makes Mahomes so special. Like when it was Brady v. Manning, it was "stats v. winning" and Mahomes qualifies in both categories.

Yea, we're definitely forgetting 2009-2013 Rodgers.

Heck, I may have even forgot about that span and said Mahomes has played better than any QB ever through these 5 years. but if I did, that was incorrect as it's 2nd to Rodgers.

Now we'll see what happens, the next 6 seasons Rodgers play dipped to an exact 100.0 passer rating, so we'll see if Mahomes can keep playing at this level whereas Rodgers dipped a tad.

Team accomplishments...at year 6 starting, Rodgers was every bit as good, if not better than Mahomes.

He has to be even if he never played again. 2 regular season MVPs and 2 SB MVPs, that's all he needs to be a 1st ballot HOFer. Only Brady and Montana have also done that.

I'm not a "RINGZZZZZZZ" person. I think judging individual players on team accomplishments is lazy.

Tom Brady is the most accomplished QB ever with the best career ever. Best career =/= best player.

Andy Reid isn't coaching forever and when he retires, it will get much harder for them to win.

He's already the best, but not yet the greatest

No one has ever played QB as well as he does. But he has a long way to go to be the GOAT

So you're saying that he's the GOAT today.

I'm saying you need to win some rings and also be really good to be in the conversation.

There is a reason why Dan Marino isn't in people's top 3 even if his stats in his era say otherwise. You have to win some titles to be the best ever. He has won 2. I think he needs to win 2-3 more to enter the realm and play at a high level for another 12 years plus

Rodgers 2009-2014 played it better than Mahomes.

Rodgers 2009-2014:

TD% - 6.8%
INT% - 1.5%
YPA - 8.4
Passer Rating - 109.0

Mahomes 2018-2022:

TD% - 6.5%
INT% - 1.6%
YPA - 8.1
Passer Rating - 106.0

Ok seriously explain how Brady 2003 is 4th on this list and Matt Ryan doesn’t even make it

66%—354 yards—7.3 YPA—3 tds—1 int—100 rating
I may have found the answer. Looks like LE's graphic was EPA per offensive play. Here's a graphic of EPA per pass attempt. You can see Ryan very high

Mahommes shouldn't have been in the super bowl this year, much less win it.
Thanks refs!!

Interesting EPA pass graph here

and here are the NFL QBs with a 60%+ passing success rate in playoff games since 2013 (for QBs with 20+ pass attempts).

That Patrick fellow sure stands out. And a certain name seems missing. Hmmmmm

Depends on the number of rings he gets. Our media and fans(most of them) are obsessed with the rings argument. It's sad but true

I agree to some degree. Using Brady as an example, he also has the individual accolades to back up his case. It’s not like he’s Drew Brees with 0 MVPs and a single 1st Team all pro.

KC prioritized OL over WR

CIN could’ve had Sewell instead they picked a WR.

You've gotta love the irony in Peyton fanboys acting like the defense carried Brady when their boy threw more INTs than TDs in his SB appearances.

And now Captain Spreadsheet wants to use yards after years of saying that only scoring matters.
