The Clark controversy seems to be driving ratings/clicks as well. Angel Reese wouldn't be selling out her own Barbies if she didnt have the Clark beef.

That has certainly been true. But the current media rights contracts now have a total value of $3.1 billion ($281 million average annual value), roughly 6.5 times the previous agreement through 2036. My guess is they will be at least a break-even league through that contract. And you will see ESP pushing them to try to recoup the money they have committed. If they can, the league will continue; if not, well, who knows.

The fumble here is not what many think; most of the loudest voices you hear don't and never will watch the WNBA. The fumble is missing the fact that they can attract young girls to the sport who know and want to see CC, young girls who had almost 0 interest before.

If you can't see the whole league is a charity case then I don't know what to tell you. It's weird you think it's suddenly self-sufficient.
ETA: And that's fine by me...if the money people want to prop up a womens bball league that's fine. But I think the delusion expressed by it's players/coaches is noteworthy as they fight for what is essentially larger donations.

These guys want to shut down a professional sports league for 2 players, they care nothing about mind you, have a friendly bet on an exhibition game.
When its pretty common knowledge that the best player in MLB and maybe greatest play to ever play the game was caught up in a gambling scandal.

didnt basically everyone here call bull shite on the ohtani stuff. also they bet on a real game not an exhibition game. its kinda right in the rules that they cant do that and should have gotten a game or 2 slap on the wrist for sure. its not a good look, but i dont think the league needs to shut down over it.
