It is not the Hall of Fame without Bonds. He did nothing illegal.

He was the best overall hitter of my generation. Many forget what a great all-around athlete he was before he morphed into The Hulk. He was a real threat on the base paths throughout most of his career. I honestly think he is what Ken Griffey Jr. could have been if he stayed healthy.

Bonds was amazing, but he was just so damn unlikable. His personality really blinded a lot of people to how great he was.

illegal.

well this depends.

#1 he did not break any baseball rules at all. zero, zilch nada so the tee totalers can suck a dick. I dont bitch about removing the ones that used speed from the HOF.

#2 the THG he supposedly used from BACLO was not a banned substance and was not on any list for being illegal and was technically legal under the supplement rules at the time although more grey area as the FDA can consider anything an unapproved drug at anytime and suddenly make it illegal to manufacturer. But under no law would it have ever been illegal to poccess or use. This was supposedly "The Clear" that he was taking. Why Pat Arnold chose this for bonds is beyond me as no testing was done or even being talked about at the time and this was not the best choice for a baseball player. I believe Patrick Arnold made this for balco to use in drug tested athletes and then they used it on bonds too and other players.

#3 if, he was using "the cream" as orginally described, it would have been illegal. It supposedly contained testosterone power with no ester so that it could easily pass through the skin in a transdermal due to molecular weight. Im not sure why this was used as Patrick Arnold had already created a 1 step precursor to Test in the 4-andro that had a conversion rate when taken orally higher than what a transdermal test base cream would have. If he was not using the cream and was using 4-andro then he never poccessed any illegal substance under any law at the time. 4-andro was not banned and sold in stores like GNC and pretty much every other supplement store in the country.

TLDR...illegal is debatable but he was never caught in poccession of any illegal substance as would be required to be charged with a crime. So no crime committed and he 100000% did not break any baseball rules.

100% this.

the best players in the last 40 years where

Bonds, Griffey, Trout imo

now prime Canseco, prime Big Mac, Prime Sosa, Prime AROD are hard to beat too.

before that it was Mantle, Mays, Ruth, Williams, Aaron, Cobb, Gehrig, Dimagio, & Rose

if i had to rank all players no matter what, for me it would be

1) Ruth- due to pitching also
2) Bonds- best 3 year period
3) Mays
4) Mantle (maybe best ever in his prime)
5) Williams- would be #1 if not for the wars
6) Trout- very possible he ends up best ever
7) Griffey Jr
8) Gehrig- if he doesnt get ALS, he is top 5
9) Aaron
10) Cobb

honorable mention would be DiMaggio Hornsby, Gwynn, Musial, Rose, Pujols, Arod, Henderson

I would put Aaron and Mays over bonds. And Gehrig top 5. And a top ten list without Damaggio and Yogi is crap.

i could live with that but you only say that because of the steroids. Bonds was a better power hitter than either. Better baserunner than aaron, mays was better fielder.

would have been if not for als. in his prime he was top 3

he would be #11. if not for the 3 war years he is 8 or 9

Who would you have him replace?

Yogi is crap.

you mean the guy who was never even the best player on his own team, best in the AL or even the best at his position in the game is suddenly top 10 overall....come on man.

four decent pitches all night.

That was the most impressive thing about him during those years. He barely ever got a pitch to hit and when he did, he crushed it every single time. Greatest hitter I've ever seen.

I don’t think you realize how important yogi was on and off the field. Look up his numbers and teams that won the WS he was on.

As far as bonds it really has nothing to do with the roids. He could have been a top 5 player without them.

As far as Aaron, imo he is number 2 all time. Has rbi record and with his 755 hrs he never hit 50 in any season….

The Babe was drinking before games. Bonds was juicing.

Him not being in the Hall of Fame is the most idiotic thing I've ever seen in my life. He's an easy Hall of Famer steroids or not, but since he wasn't likeable, he isn't in, yet David Ortiz is.

I'll say this again. MLB Hall of Fame voters are the dumbest group of people walking on this planet.

If Yogi is top 10, Bench has to be top 9.

But neither belong on the top 10 list.

Depends on how you factor in the additional products he used.

There's this strange mythology that before he used, he was otherworldly. He was a great player, another good guy but he wasn't what he became

He won 3 MVPs before anyone had an inkling about steroids and should have won it in '91. That would have mad 4 straight, but instead he had 3 out of 4. Yet, you suggest he's just another good ballplayer.

Pre roid Bonds was a first ballot hall of famer. I can't judge a man that wears a size 12 7/8 hat so I don't know how to analyze his later years. A great player but not the GOAT.

That guy’s dumb as frick. On most topics. But his Missouri name reminds me that Stan Musial usually gets overlooked in these top 10 discussions.

There is a massive difference doing that as a SS and then 3B vs a 1B DH or RF

Didn’t Palmeiro win a gold glove when he played like 40 games in the field

1999 - 28 games at first. Hilarious
