Bileichick is A tier

B Tier, IMO, has; Tomlin, Payton, Reid, Carroll, Mcarthy, Harghbaugh. Basically every 10 year long coach with 1 title.

Tomlin has to be #1 IMO.

Reid is the tops in that tier. Harbaugh and Payton are 2 and 3 in whatever order. I’d say the order for the rest is Tomlin, Carroll, then McCarthy, not much separation.

Reid/Payton, Carroll/Harbaugh/Tomlin, McCarthy last by far.

McCarthy is realistically a C+ coach, at best. He had perhaps the most gifted QB ever to play and they made but one SB and the fanbase wanted him fired 5 years before he actually was.

Even with Rodgers in the twilight of his career and management that he still hates, the team looks far better than anything under McCarthy in the last decade.

Tomlin's been to 2 Super Bowls, a conf champ and has a higher winning % than Harbaugh or Payton.

Belichick
Reid
Carroll been to 2 SBs and had winning record with 2 teams
Tomlin
Payton
Harbaugh

McCarthy isn't a B-tier head coach. His record without Favre, Rodgers, and Dak is 11-18-1. He's terrible without an absolute top tier QB.

Lsupride87,

Reid is just an inch below Tomlin.

For me the tie breaker is a) both have 1 title 2) Tomlin never has had a losing season & Reid has.

Reid has coached over 100 games more than Tomlin and has been to 3 Super Bowls with two different teams. He also has a better record than Tomlin as a head coach. I would take Reid over Tomlin, although both are great coaches.

ETA: Reid has a better record in the playoffs too.

These are the three best coaches in the league, and the only difference between them being mahomes is with Reid.

Reid has been to 3 Super Bowls with two separate teams and has had 8 CCG appearances. Reid is clearly above Tomlin.

Yours is probably closest to right but I’d slip Carroll beneath Tomlin and Payton

I think tomlin and Payton are equal IMO but can see an argument for either. I can see an argument for Reid over bill as well. I think if NE improves again next year that argument has to be shut down though.

This.

Of the B tier coaches listed in the OP, McCarthy is the “one of these is not like the other” who sticks out like a sore thumb.
