This compromises player safety and is therefore unrealistic. Football won’t enact such a rule that compels players to play when injured

Its true.

It would force players not to go down and try to play through it.

This is difficult to do because of HIPAA. Announcing to the crowd or world that someone was faking is still HIPAA. The only way to do this is have built-in considerations such as making players stay out longer. The hard part there, as others have alluded, is keeping players from playing hurt to avoid being sat out.

But I think you could do this. Look at the average time someone spends out if they are actually hurt and make it around that time frame. Then you aren’t really punishing players who are actually hurt and need their ankle taped or something and only people who expect to come back the next play or two will avoid calling for the trainer.

They already do that.

Threads like this are fun. They make it easy to spot people who never played football.

Sure, but why continue to compound that problem by further penalizing injured players

There's nothing to compound. A player goes down to an injury, and you think taking one play off is sufficient time to evaluate them to make sure it's safe for them to return. I say they need longer than one play.

The difference between taking one play off and staying on the field is negligible.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

"Injured" players sit for the rest of the series. If that doesn't stop it, make it the rest of the quarter or game.

You know, player safety and all that.

i think this is reasonable, especially the series

Coach K about 80 now so should die or retire from Duke soon and alleviate the majority of NCAA flopping.

Right, and the NCAA is your appeal to authority.

Obviously.

But hey, you've been around football before, so you have that going for you...
