Also posted on LSU Score Board and SEC Score Board. Just want opinions.

I'm sure every single team in the NCAA is guilty of doing this at some point. I'm also sure that the coaches, players, and fans all think it is ridiculous. My question is, what can you actually do about it?

If you make it a penalty, you are giving refs even more power and the ability to make an extremely judgmental call that can effect the game.

Take a timeout away if it is deemed that the player goes down after a play while the offense is getting ready? Players who never get up after a play ends and therefore are more likely to actually be injured would not require a timeout.

Any player who leaves the field for an injury not eligible to return for the rest of that quarter/half? This makes some sense as far as the emphasis on player safety goes.

Any ideas? The flopping has gotten out of hand when you can watch almost any fast paced offense play and see several defenders lay down right before the ball is snapped, and the offense can't do anything about it. Can a quarterback see a play clock get down to 3 seconds and tell his running back to take a dive from now on to get a new clock?

Nothing, Kentucky and a few other SEC schools pulled this shite against MU a few years back when they went high octane(lol).

Dlinemen were laying on the field, faking cramps, etc, it was embarrassing.

I mean it's the SEC, they let Bama players punch other players and escape suspension.

"Injured" players sit for the rest of the series. If that doesn't stop it, make it the rest of the quarter or game.

You know, player safety and all that.

That was my best thought for it as well.

Just make sure they weren’t, in fact, sniped before awarding punishment.

They can stop writing stupid arse rules that have a multitude of interpretations that either force that option to actually be an option, Or remove scenarios that make it necessary. There's no way the injury protective NCAA will ever penalize a potential injury, regardless of how fake it's deemed.

The only "fair" method I can think of is that you give the offense a choice here:

Do you want to substitute for the "next" play? If no, then the defense cannot sub for anyone except for the player who was injured. If yes, then both teams substitute freely.

I'd like to say that the substitute must be the same position as the one coming out, but that's impossible to regulate.

forcing a player to sit out for a quarter if he requires a trainer to enter the field isn’t punishment

First they have to enforce the substitution rules correctly.

The refs STILL don't know how to enforce those rules consistently.

I like this ...not too punitive but would certainly cut down a good portion of the fake ones.

Being that all “series” aren’t created equal, might be a better idea to have a set # of plays you have to sit out... obviously more than the current 1 play...make it 3-4 plays.

Sit remainder of quarter or game will never happen...too harsh

This or at least hold them out until a change of possession occurs.

I agree, but it'd be fun watching the NCAA fumble through explaining that. After all, we just want to be sure that a player who needed to stop the game to see a trainer is OK before they come back out there.

A&M did a injury flop yesterday and as the injured walked off they substituted the whole defense.

The real truth is that you’re not supposed to run a hurry-up offense. It isn’t “football.” If you run the hurry-up, the defense will make you stop by “being injured.”

The real solution is to give the ball to your RB who averages 6.8 ypc and congratulate him on his Heisman.

This compromises player safety and is therefore unrealistic. Football won’t enact such a rule that compels players to play when injured.

Issue with this idea is injured players may be more likely to try to play through the injury then without being examined by the medical staff. Could lead to more serious injuries when it could have been solved with something as simple as adding more tape to an ankle.
