It is, though. The entire culture is weird. Plus the off the court component of "oh did you see that diss on twitter" or "so and so spotted with so and so's ex in LA"

I don’t understand the makeup of people who just follow KD, Lebron, etc from team to team. I can respect a dude’s game, even like the player a lot...but people slobbing on the knob of a guy who isn’t on their squad is pathetic.
We’re all 5’6” have no friends or girlfriends and need heroes to worship to feel good about ourselves.

The frick is this passive aggressive shite? Tell us about the superior makeup of you team first guys..

In the southeast where college sports are king, it certainly is at the pro level
As most people will just follow around their favorite players from their schools

That’s not really what this is about. But thanks.

This is my team. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My team is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my team is useless. Without my team, I am useless.

No? You asked why people are fanboys of the best NBA players. Seems exactly what this thread is about.

People enjoy watching the best play the game. If they don't have a deep-rooted attachment to a team, they will follow their favorite player. Or hell, even if they do have a deep-rooted attachment to a team, they can still follow their favorite player.

You follow?

This also isn't a new development. People adore Bird, Jordan, Magic, etc.

Sure are a lot of Chicago Bulls fans on this board.

How can someone who isn’t loyal to a team truly get excited about a championship?
You have to be a complete moron to not understand why a Lebron fan got excited about his championships.

On the other hand, I’d find someone a gross POS if they followed KD from OKC to fricking GS and then lost their shite when he won a ring with them

Even to this day Knicks fans hate him.

This is not the ‘fanboy’ culture. There’s a big difference between tuning in to see a marquee game with the sport’s best players, and pouring over a guy’s twitter feed...wearing the jersey, shore, and matching sweatbands...going ape shite when his player’s team win’s the ‘ship...then swapping out all that shite for new gear when he gets traded.

That’s not JUST about watching what is entertaining.

Lol yes they did. Jordan's first few seasons he was a phenomenon selling out arenas all over the country with everyone there rooting for him. Including Madison square garden

Oh his first few seasons when his team was shite.
Sure they did, they did/do the same with Lebron

But Jordan in his prime wining titles with the Bulls. The Knicks fans do not like him

It boils down to people are fans of those players because they are the best and people like watching the best. It's what fans do.

If you can't understand that, I'm not sure what else I can say.
