Because Kansas is a state with a lot of white farmers. White people are naturally very good at basketball, but struggle with football. So that is why you see the disparity for the jayhawks.

Wait a minute, something doesnt seem right.......

It takes MANY more players to have a good football team than it does to have a great basketball team. KU has long been a power in basketball. Therefore, they are able to sign 4-6 great basketball players from all parts of the country/world and then fill in the rest with good regional players. You can win a national title with an eight man rotation in basketball. Plus, injuries are nearly as common in basketball as they aren't in football. Even if a school somehow had a great first 22 players in football, you still need a lot of depth because it's almost a certainty that many of those guys will miss at least some snaps/games during the season due to injury.

It's not like they're just kind of bad in football. They are fricking terrible.

Has anybody mentioned fan support yet? I live in Maryland and nobody gives a shite about Maryland football. The only college sport people care about around here is college basketball. Penn State and Virginia Tech have more fan support in the Baltimore/DC area than Maryland does. I imagine a lot of these schools with great basketball programs and terrible football teams are the same way. Their basketball fans either pay little attention to college football or find another CFB team to root for.

Are your reading comprehension skills bad? Most of the important Chiefs don't live in Missouri, for sure.

Why no Kansas head coach has never fully committed to, used and abused the Jayhawk Conference JC's beats me. If I was the KU HC I would recruit from there basically exclusively. And I would cut back room deals with the coaching staffs to have them run my offensive and defensive schemes and practice methodology.
