i cant remember a #1 seed ever having to go as far as UNC having to go to Kansas City, Missouri for the sweet 16. if the travel isn't bad enough, they likely will face Kansas which will be a home game. its crazy how it worked out but the committee didn't have much of a choice but to give 3 ACC teams 1 seeds so it is what it is. they shouldve got it done on the court in the ACC tourney

eta: i'm not a UNC fan so don't hold this post against their fanbase haha

Kansas sucks.

I’d play them for the right to go to the Elite 8 in a heartbeat.

UNC would beat Kansas by double digits if they played the Sweet 16 game at Fog Allen

Don't sleep on Northeastern. They are good. Have a guard named Vasa Puscia who is solid.

Only thing I don’t like about the matchup is Roy vs Self. Last time UNC played Kansas in the tournament, Self coaches circles around Roy.

OU beat them by 20 and I don’t think OU is NIT quality. If I was a legit basketball team, I would not be overly concerned with Kansas this year.

Spokane to Anaheim > Chapel Hill to Kansas City

ETA: Xavier was the 1 seed in the Los Angeles regional last year.

Wisconsin was the 1 seed in the Los Angeles regional in 2016.

Michigan State was the 1 seed in the Phoenix regional in 2012.

Duke was the 1 seed in the Los Angeles regional in 2011.

Syracuse was the 1 seed in the Salt Lake City regional in 2010.

Basically, more often than not, there's a 1 seed who has to travel further to the sweet 16 than UNC will (this year included).

If anyone got screwed its Michigan State. They just won the Big Ten and they are placed with Duke.

If the committe really is supposed to do the snake style model of filling the bracket, then Michigan State is the 8th best team, behind a Michigan team they just beat.

They should be swapped with Michigan.

Wasn't that when Kendall Marshall was hurt and their offense went to shite?

That team just underperformed. Won’t happen again though. This KU team is straight trash.

Michigan has a tougher path to get to Gonzaga in Anaheim than Sparty has to get to Duke in DC, though.

Michigan: tougher path, easier destination, more sky miles
Sparty: easier path, tougher destination, short flight

I got no problem with it.

Wichita State when we were the 8 (I think) in their bracket when they were the 1 was a doozy. They got absolutely fricked with the teams in their region that year.

I remember that. Almost like the committee went out of their way to bend them over. They had Kentucky, Louisville, and Michigan in that region. Brutal.

He’s talking about 2007-08 when a far superior to KU team got blasted by 20 in the semi-final game. 2012-13 was also a 20 pt loss to the fricking shite chickens.

2011-12 though was when Marshall was hurt because of a trash Creighton player. We had to play Stilman White at Point and had to go to OT just to beat Ohio. Couldn’t pull it off against KU without Marshall though.

Yea people here are still mad about that (rightfully so). The commuter was probably just mad they had to put a “small conference” team that high and made me pay for it.

ZOMG they might have to play in an arena where a majority are rooting against them. I’d consider them lucky, Kansas looks like a 7 seed at best away from their home court.

fricking what?

kansas was lightyears better, obviously. most underrated team in CBB history. statistically, one of the few best teams ever.

also pretty sure he's talking about 2013, but it's likely hard to pick which time self coached circles around roy.
