This is a horrible argument. A seven game series removes the possibility of a team getting lucky for one game and moving on, a la Cleveland State.

In 07, the Suns won 61 games but lost in the 2nd round to the champions to be Spurs 4 games to 2. In the next round, the Spurs beat the 51 win Utah Jazz 4 games to 1.

The Suns were clearly the better team all year long and in the playoffs but due to matchups, they were put out of the playoffs before the Jazz. Does that make the Jazz the better team? Absolutely not.

That would typically be a pretty good argument, but you have to factor in that the Suns won those 61 regular season games with Steve Nash healthy, and Amare and Boris Diaw able to suit up. Nash left the end of a close game 1 with a terrible bloody nose, and Stoudemire and Diaw had to miss game 5. If those things never happen, easily could have been Suns 4-2 and moving on to see Utah.
