I was having a discussion with a buddy about high school football teams playing a college team (division III). He thinks the best high school football team could beat the best division III team. I said no way. What does the MSB say?
Also, he thinks the woman's NCAA basketball champions could beat the best HS boys team I said no freaking way

Womens champs would struggle against good high school teams.

You sure he didn't mean "worse"?

I bet the top football players in high school at their respective position could beat a division III team as all those players would more than likely be Division I players.

im not sure about football just because of the linemen really, but in soccer and basketball, the best high school teams could absolutely beat D2 and D3 teams.

I agree. I think the only shot a high school team would have is in a 7 on 7.

I think a nationally ranked HS football team could hold its own with a Miss. College or Rhodes. The would lose, but it would not be a massacre.

Well the Canadian Women's National hockey team routinely loses to Midget AAA teams, which is 17 and under.

And Serena Williams lost 6-1, 6-2 to the 300th ranked mens tennis player, although it was like 16 years ago.

And I would probably take the best boys HS basketball team over the WNBA All-Star team.

But even the best Texas 5A football team would struggle and probably lose against a middle of the pack Division III team.

I don't think that's much of a leap. Keep in mind, DIII schools don't give out athletic scholarships. I think, given the right amount of practice the UA All-American teams could win against a DIII school.

I was once told by a D3 school head coach that if I started on a Varsity HS team, I could start on his team.

So I think a top tier HS could take a lower tier D3. It'd be a game against a Top/Top, but the D3 will be a lot deeper in talent.

He didn't say beat any D-II or D-III teams, he said the best. I can't see the best HS team beating Whitewater or Mt. Union in football. Hard to say for soccer, but I highly doubt it, either.

Wasn't some poster on here within the last few months arguing something like Lebron's HS team could compete with a really bad NBA team?

Oh everyone knew the dude was nuts for suggesting such a thing, just couldn't remember the exact circumstances. OP's question reminded me of that.
