Did people ever really say this? I thought it was "she could beat Floyd in a street fight/the Octagon" where she could tackle him?
Does it really matter? I wouldn't trust a person that held either opinion to watch my dog for a weekend

I knew people who aren't otherwise retarded claim Ronda Rousey could take Mayweather. That's what made it kind of ironic that her two losses were to strikers.

Legit one of the most overrated and overhyped athletes I've ever seen. No disrespect intended towards her, she seems kind of cool, but she's a classic case of someone who is nowhere near as good at something as they thought they were.

This is one of the dumbest threads in the history of TD. Someone falls from grace every few years, Paterno, Woods, Armstrong etc.

meh. I think there is a clear discernable difference between falling from grace due to scandal, and falling simply because you instantly suck huge arse at your profession

Well that is something else and "fall from grace" implies scandal...not just a person suddenly start sucking...but OP didn't specify and most falls from grace are scandals.

Very rarely is it because suddenly you aren't great anymore or even good.

Of the top of my head I can think of David Duval in golf...

Joining the tour in 1995 - Success came quickly, as Duval posted seven second-place finishes on the PGA Tour from 1995 to 1997.

Duval led the PGA Tour money list in 1998, and also won the Vardon Trophy and Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average. He ended second on the 1997 and 1999 money lists.

From 1997 to 2001, he won 13 PGA Tour tournaments, including the 1997 Tour Championship, the 1999 Players Championship, and the 2001 Open Championship, as well as the 2001 Dunlop Phoenix on the Japan Golf Tour and the 2000 World Cup (with Tiger Woods) internationally. He also tied for second in both the 1998 and 2001 Masters.

Duval was 4th in money list in 2001 behind Tiger and Phil.

The next year he was 80th.

The year after that he was 211th.

He's had a comeback but man, he fell off a cliff and wandered in the wilderness for years!

Which is still absurd. You have the pound for pound best mens boxer in the world. Who in their right mind would thin she would win a fight in any format? The quickness that he has she would never touch him. Hes a snoozer to watch but you dont get where hes gotten by accident.

Its a different sport. Floyd quickness means nothing he wouldn't even get off a punch against a skilled grappler(man or woman) who could literally just lay down and scoot towards Floyd kick his legs and if he tries to do anything other than run away he risk getting swept and game over. Now is Ronda skilled enough to do that? No.

But its still 50/50 at best, Floyd has 1 combo to finish her because once they are engaged its over Floyd can't defend himself.

Exactly. RR was a media creation and most bought into the hype. Including herself which was her biggest mistake.

I knew Nunez would destroy her and likely end her career bc she has this false view of herself.

She'll try to make a comeback probably win a couple fights while losing a couple title fights. And that will be that.

I wouldnt go that far. she beat everyone they put in front of her convincingly. problem is she was in a shite camp and thought it was good enough and didnt try to make a legit shot at improving her weaknesses.

MMA is a tough sport.

Anybody that believes that Tiger wouldn't still be kickin arse (not as much, but jack would go down) if he had a perfect spine is a moron. All this mental BS. The dude was dominating in 13 but just didn't win a major. If the back woulda cooperated, I'd say he wins another 5 or so

Um, shouldn't a fall from grace involve serious off the field/outside the ring issues?

She just got knocked off the top like every other athlete who's been at the top. Wasn't even the biggest decline in results.
