Dude was league MVP and rushed for 2,000 yards that 1998 season, I’m pretty sure that in addition to his 1995-97 regular season production also contributed to his induction

So does Watt

Unless you’re talking about SBs because no one is going to hold that against a defensive player.

The only 5-6 players I know of that could literally dominate football games from the defensive side are Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, Derrick Thomas, Clay Matthews, Von Miller, and JJ Watt, guess I should include Deacon Jones and Mel Blount too lol

I’m talking about dominating football games from the defensive side, Peej, hard to do it from the secondary positions as opposed to D-line/linebacking corps

Yes, he's arguably the most dominant defensive player of his generation and has gained accolades on par with Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White to represent that domination

Please tell me you're one of those "Get Off My Lawn" old people that always contends "the old days" was the greatest era in sports to be reacting to my statement like that

Cause its true... You go by highlights and stat books... You have zero clue just how good LT or Deacon Jones were... Highlights just don't do them justice...

As people have gotten bigger and stronger over the course of time, somehow athletes have become smaller, slower, and weaker according to Peej

Both were edge rushers. Watt plays the majority of his snaps as a 3-4 defensive end

You always say the athletes from "back in my day" were better. Yet, the guys today are bigger, faster, and stronger. A guy like Watt would have been the biggest and strongest player on the field in Deacon Jones's era. I always hear stories about how big Doug Atkins was and how terrifying he was because he was 280 pounds. Watt has him by at least 20.

Highlights, awards, all-pros, innovation, influence, domination over an opponent, Hall of Fame validation, iconic NFL Films clips of sacks and tackles, I mean Deacon Jones was to the defensive end like LT was to the linebacker position both revolutionized their positions for future generations, dude had 3 SEASONS where he recorded 20+ sacks (unofficial at the time), simply insane so yah I think all those elements do those 2 legends justice

Watt and Taylor could run like gazelles as well, it's almost like those players were mutants in what they represented from an athletic standpoint, LT's probably one of the most reckless athletes in the history of the planet and that was reflected every Sunday when he played in the NFL then just insane, he probably wouldn't be able to play today with how hard he played every snap and the way he sacked quarterbacks, way too susceptible to catastrophic injury

You just love watching players like LT, JJ Swatt, Von Miller, Ronnie Lott, Clay Matthews, Eric Berry, James Harrison, Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, etc play, they're the essence and embodiment of the sport in its purest form

Yet you have said over and over and Over that Ronnie Lott is the best defensive player in NFL history.......
