A simple search of the Clerk of Court's website shows that the lawsuit was dropped last week. That explains the timing.

No it doesn't. It explains why he would quit AFTER the season but not why he would quit a week before the season starts.

Will coach in college, perhaps where his son is going...if not look out for some role on coach O's staff

You think a school board that just got hit with a lawsuit cares about the timing of football season? This has forced resignation written all over it.

It's said to be a resign or be fired situation.

I know him pretty well. He's more interested in teaching these kids about life, than football. His speech at last years end of year football banquet was moving.

Could it all be smoke blowing? Sure. I don't live with the man. But he seemed to be of high character and morals.

Again, it was a move many believed he was forced into because of a stance he took for his kids.

That's a little dramatic, this isn't big time college or pro football. If they "forced" him to resign, then why just coaching duties? He's still the athletic director.

John Ehret did the same thing to their coach just a couple of weeks ago. It is a lot more common then you realize. You just don't see it in the news because it is high school sports.

The lawsuit is about the football building and health conditions related to it.

The Ehret thing was about transfers and shady stuff the coach was doing right? Also, are you saying the school board is punishing him for filing the law suit? How is that legal?

ETA: just to be clear, I don't know this coach or anything about the situation. He could be a great coach and a fantastic human being. It just seems odd to quit on your players like that.

I was told by someone in the program that it's health-related. If it was about the litigation or facilities, it would make sense if he also stepped down as AD. But he didn't.

On the other hand, his comment about coaching again is cryptic.

It's both. It's his health and a result of the building conditions that's affecting him, and that is part of the litigation.

That's really all I'm going to say.

It’s mold in the locker room and him hating the principal.

Let me get this straight.

The head coach of Mandeville, the school with the most affluent parents on the northshore outside of St. Paul's is suing the school because there is black mold in the locker room.

The mold is making him and presumably the children of these parents sick.

The coach sues the school board because of it but the suit gets dropped.

The school board forces his resignation (but only as head coach) because he blew the whistle on the mold problem.

Does that sum it up?

Will say this... Adjusting for their money, their parental support, and their recent record, Mandeville has the worst stadium and facilities in the state. I'm sure they're nice by most standards, but they deserve better than nice

Now that you say that, I was out there over the summer and I was surprised they had the same stadium they did when I was in high school. It is pretty crappy for a program that established and successful.

I still don't get why he would quit in August though.

You're hung up on that "he quit" thing.

There are obviously a few things you're not quite aware of, or, you're simply ignoring it to push this "he quit" agenda. It's more to do with his health.

And along with that, it has to do with the building he was not going into because of his health. He Was forced to make a decision. Stepped down from coaching because by not going into that building he was not fulfilling his obligstion as the coach but was not forced to leave the school, hence the AD position he maintained. He is liked by pretty much anyone associated with the booster program and the football family.

The school did some remdiating on the mold last year. School board said it was legit.

Boosters and parents put up money to get an outside report and that report revealed what they thought. The remediation done did not fully take care of the problem, hence the litigation. The rest unfolded in the last week/day.

So Mandeville's head coach resigned because he was allergic to the mold in the field house and the school board wouldn't fix it? Why did people in this thread treat that like some state secret? Don't get me wrong, it's embarrassing and hilarious but still.

Probably because it's not "he's allergic". There is a condition. He made the right choice for his health.

Either way, that's an incredibly embarrassing way to lose your head football coach.

Says you.

I'm good with him standing up for what he did. Proud of the job he's done. Glad he saw his health as a priority and made the right decision.

Sorry it didn't fit you're little "look Mandeville's coach quit in August" agenda you were trying to push. Sometimes real life happens.
