Not necessarily. She has been sick for sometime, and SA has a pretty big Med Center right down I10 from his house. Who knows, that might have kept him here.

news reports say she has been ill for quite some time

most certainly the Olympic Team guys all knew her, considering how much time they all spend together every two years

Some of you are so Twitter-sessed that you HAVE to make this a Lebron thing. This would be news if any coach’s wife passed while he was coaching in the playoffs.
Lebron made it a Lebron thing with his fake reaction

Twitter exploded after bc they thought like everyone here that tnt had just blindsided him with that question based on his reaction,
i mean, can you blame them? did you watch the interview more than once? the dude look totally bewildered for something he was apparently informed of and was "absolutely" sure he wanted to talk about minutes before his normal post game Q&A. TNT having to have guys clarify to the public can attest to that.

Lebron seemed genuinely upset a friends wife died

I don't understand why people think being told 30 seconds before the interview means Lebron should be stoic

Y'all need Jesus because the absolutely irrational hate is strong in your hearts

But you gotta wonder if God would let this happen to someone who wasn't always using his position as an NBA legend to promote his liberal agenda.

Pop & I were stationed together at the Air Force Academy in the mid '70s. We occasionally played racquet ball or squash during the lunch hour in the Cadet Gym. I can attest to the fact that he has sharp elbows. His soon to be wife was the daughter of Jim Conboy, the long time athletic trainer for the AFA. I think the last time I saw Pop was at Jim's funeral in the late '90s. I wouldn't be surprised if Pop hangs it up after this season. He would be a perfect fit for an analysts position on TV.

You know a bunch of losers here on this site wanted to say that earnestly though.

Considering he was preparing for/playing in a playoff game when the story broke, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the first time he heard it

I’m assuming you’ve never had a parent die at a young(ish) age

The world doesn’t stop. It sounds aggressive, but once the mourning part is over, it’s unfortunately back to the real world. You can’t wallow in self pity the rest of your life and be miserable. So why would this make Pop hang it up?

So I thought the same as you after I heard LaForce gave him a heads up, but re-watching it makes me think it hit him after she asked.

Go to 1:08. Saying you'll comment is one thing. Actually doing it, on the spot, is entirely different.

That’s more of an after game press conference question, not post game on the court.
