It must've been dark that night. Honest mistake. Lots of people wear loud suits. His head was down. How could you know for sure?

He could have easily given the one word answers he normally does in those interviews.

Class act. I can dislike the spurs all I want but I'm always a fan of doing the right thing. Get well soon Craig.

There is absolutely nothing not to like about the Spurs. Class from top to bottom, year after year.

Yep, 1970. Pop & I were stationed together at the AFA in the mid '70s for a few years ago. And yes, he was a smart arse 40 years ago.

On a serious note, he is very intellectual. He might be the smartest person I've ever met. But as I told him the last time I saw him 10 years ago, that isn't saying much.

I googled to find out the story on Sager and there's a whole string of stories about Popovich's "contentious" relationship with him, makes it all the nicer that he'd think about that at a time of the year when he has a lot of things to think about, didn't have to say anything and nobody would have thought anything about it.

Eh Pop probably likes him as a person. I just think pop gets annoyed with any small interruptions during the games. I think he has a very dry sense of humor too so he is really joking with him most of the time.

Which kind of says something that he went out of his way to do that in a tie game heading into the 4th quarter.

Too bad it took Sager getting sick for Popovich to give a decent interview instead of his usual one word answer schtick. That act is old.

really? because answering the same God damned questions over and over for YEARS makes you really love it.

pop, you're down by 5 what do you need to do to pull out a win.

uhm...play better defense

execute better

limit our mistakes

or, pop, you're up by 5 what do you need to do to keep the lead?

not let them score more than you

execute when needed

play good defense

15+ years of answering the same cliche arse questions would make anyone sick.

I can't remember the tennis player who was asked by a media member about his/her boring reputation as an interview subject. The reply kinda shut up the room of reporters: "really? boring? because from where i'm sitting you guys always ask the exact same questions."
