I'll always take southern talent over the Midwest. Anyways, UM needs an elite recruiter, someone not afraid to get dirty. I think Mario Cristobal would kill it at UM. Do you honestly believe your administration would hire someone like that?

Really PJ? You want to debate whether southern players are better than northern players? I know you live your sports life like a 1960 midwest reporter but come on.

Sounds like USC. But instead of a fiery guy, USC already has the tone it down aww shucks guy and the administration seems perfectly happy that just getting by is the prevalent attitude.

The football talent in some of these midwest states is drying up
It's why teams like Michigan and Nebraska are struggling

all the talent still resides in the south and out in California and those teams will continue to dominate college football

I really don't buy that academics hurt them. That is a cop-out. Maybe there are other issues I am not aware of that do. I know the conference was butthurt about oversigning and and grey shirts for a while.

Nobody likes the guy who is the source of this, so that is probably part of it. He burned bridges everywhere he went in radio. That said, he is still somewhat connected to Detroit media.

That's fine. I completely understand it. But its a freaking message board. They all are already calling for Harbaugh to be fired anyway.

If Harbaugh is fired or leaves or whatever, that has to be a mindset altering moment for Michigan fans, right? Like maybe they realize they aren’t who they want to be, or think they should be.

I mean he was supposed to be THE guy.

This seems like Harbaugh trying to control the narrative. Nobody is settling for 8 or 9 wins, it’s all he’s capable of. This is 100% him controlling the narrative to protect his ability to get another job.

Michigan is easily a good enough program that they could dominate with a great coach. Harbaugh is a very good coach with some mental quirks and if he's checked out, that's probably it.

And who knows how good Ryan Day will be anyway once Urban's players and Fields are gone anyway.

I still think the problem with Michigan is the administration

That very same administration seems to work well enough with its basketball program....

For me, the biggest fail with Harbaugh is the failure to develop QBs. I wasn't sure he'd win big, but I def thought he'd develop talent at that position.

I would take miles as long as he promises the fan base he will hire a modern OC and not interfere with the playcalling

Miles is a good man and I can’t picture him violating his word

Michigan hired a dinosaur (offensive philosophy, not age) right as the landscape of college football was completely changing.

In basketball, you can have a less talented team and still win. If you have a team of upperclassmen who shoot the ball well and don't beat themselves, you can easily beat a team of more talented one and done freshmen.

As for Michigan football, there's no reason why they shouldn't be recruiting at or near Ohio State's level. Nice campus, nice city, iconic stadium, massive fanbase with a ton of money. I know it gets cold there but it gets cold in Columbus too.

From an outside perspective, I believe Ohio State is much, much more committed to winning while Michigan wants to portray themselves as the Harvard of the Midwest.
