How do the Saints manage not to get a single word written about them?

They were a cool team weren't they?

The characters, the smash-mouth running, the snake and Freddie and old man Willie.

They had been so close for so many many years...finally breaking through over the Steelers to play in the Super Bowl.

AFC was tough as shite in the 70's - Steelers, Raiders, Dolphins.

Despite only 1 Super Bowl win in the 70's...Raiders had the winningest record in the 70's...by far...and actually in all of Pro Football and all of sports - from the 1960's up until the late 1980's.

The Raiders for 35 years were the winningest sports franchise by % in all of sports...baseball, hockey, football, pro basketball, etc.

That 1991 Redskins team was as dominant as any of them. They had no weaknesses and a lot of strengths.

I agree about the raiders and their history. I have followed them since the late 60's. So many afl/arc champ games and always came up short it seems. But they did make 4 sb's from 1967 to 1983. Not many teams can say that.

Seriously if you bet tomorrow who is beating the
Niners of 89.

I would give an afc teams of the 70's a chance and the 1993 coeboys but that's about it

But struggled to win in the playoffs

The Patriots were the only team that beat them in the regular season and should have won the playoff game but for a bad call.

I agree with the list the 84 9ers were better. Their defense that year is criminally underrated.

I've seen a lot of lists like this, and most of them have the Saints in the top 10.

It's obvious the writer lives off of nostalgia. That Seahawks team would shite all over most of the teams ranked above them.

It's hard to make a list from different eras. The saints were great in 2009. But could they have moved the ball like they. Did on the Pittsburgh defenses of the 70's???? No way to tell.

One of the most overrated teams in NFL history. Brett Favre and Reggie White led the Packers to top rankings on offense and defense (a rarity) but the team was 5-3 against teams over .500 (and these weren’t narrow losses) and needed a Desmond Howard kickoff return to put away a mediocre Patriots team in the Super Bowl.

that is a horrible way to introduce a team they have in their Top 10.

The ironic thing about that is that he actually overrated them. I'm biased and think they're more in the underrated side, but for instance in the America's Game countdown, they were ranked #16 and most rankings I've seen put them in the 10-15 range, and generally not even the best ranked Packer team ever. So ya this guy rated them #9 and starts off bitching that they're an overrated team

yeah, I don't get what he's trying to say.

The only game I remember GB having a truly bad game was on Monday Night Football to Dallas that year.

and the Packers had real good special teams play all year especially with returns so they are overrated for that?

so much for being a well rounded team I guess.

Saints were very impressive that year no doubt and why they won the super bowl, but I don't think they are in the top 10. Most of the teams in the top 10 steamrolled their way through the playoffs and super bowl.
