1993 Glen Oaks. Absolutely LOADED team. Went 10-0. Lost to 4-6 South LaFourche in the playoffs.

I'd go with 1980 John Ehret.

Those Ehret teams coached by Jesse Daigle were unbelievable for their time. They had the Tyrones (QB & WR) and Chad Encalade on their offense and they just threw the ball all over the place which was a big deal for that time

80 was wishbone... but as 10 blossomed the plan was in place to open it the next year.... got ball back in semifinal loss to barbe down 15-14 with about 1:30 left... 11 missed 10 wide open on one play....

lost to state champ and runner up both by 1....

No one mentioning 93' St Augustine squad?

Didn't they have about 3 defensive players that went on to play at Michigan and other big time schools? Lost to West Monroe in triple overtime I believe in a failed two point conversion.

Loaded team.

Overtime 34-33, Eddie Stephens intercepted the 2 point conversion.

What became of Orlando Wheeler? I remember he was lights out over there in the early-mid 2000's, don't recall him ever signing with anybody.

yeah.. but can you really call a team that treats a kickoff late in a game like a punt... great?

The kicking game is an afterthought on A.P. Tureaud Ave.

1993 or 1994 Ouachita Lions

Lost in the semi's in '93 to Rondell Mealey's Destrehan team. If my memory is correct, Ouachita turned it over 3 or 4 times. Destrehan lost to West Monroe in the Finals.... Ouachita had beaten WM near the end of that season at West Monroe in OT.

Ouachita lost in the Dome in '94 to #1 and Undefeated Hahnville. I think the final score was 36-28, but Hahnville had a 33-7 lead late in the 3rd quarter before the Lions rallied.

Hahnville was a terrific team. I'm not taking anything away from them, but it was one of those games where... you wished you had that one back. Several of the players off the Ouachita team felt like they were the better team and that they let that one get away from them.

Think they turned it over 7 times. It was ridiculous.

I was real young then and the games I attended I could get any seat in the house before that run. Don't remember much more than that. Worked with a guy who started defensive tackle for west monroe Shelton Sit who had a recording of the game and he said it was like men among boys in terms of talent.

James Hall and Roland Seymour were on that team if I remember correctly.

Correct JJ.

Two mufed punts I believe by Brown. Turnover by Spencer and an interception in the first half I believe.

I remember listening to the game on the radio with Lanny James using ever superlative to describe the melt down as he could. Didn't get any better in the second half either.

Doubt they beat West Monroe in superdome anyways as they were clicking on all cylinders at that time heading into the superdome.

I knew it was three or four on that defense.

As much love West Monroe gets for beating BR Catholic in '96, and rightfully so, that win over Augustine could be argued to be an even larger upset.
