I think a lot of that has to do when he was with the Rams, coming from Harvard, and they really weren't throwing it deep. In New York and Tampa he is just zipping it everywhere. Also the New York Media got after him early one year saying he has no arm and then he went on that run. Then the next year he was throwing it to everyone else but a Jet player.

Gunslinger is not a compliment in QB terms. Means you just don't give a frick and screw over your team half the time by throwing wily-nily because you can't control yourself, read defenses or understand the game of football.
Protect the ball and don't put your team in bad situations.

You could definitely make a good argument Marino's the greatest QB who's ever played, if I was starting a team today he'd be the first guy I'd select dude mastered the professional game from year 1 and proceeded to SHATTER records in an era where guys like Hugh Green, Lawrence Taylor, Howie Long, Dexter Manley could beat the living crap out of the quarterback, simply amazing just SICK

Eli for as bad of decisions he makes has the feet of a ballerina. Which makes it mystifying why he does what he does. Him and Peyton have the best feet for NFL QB’s.

Marino? No way. He would average what top line guys do now. He would be used just like New Orleans uses Brees.
He’s have games of 500 every so often but Marino wasn’t just Zeus. People seem to forget when he got into funks it was bad.
