That's a really good point that I haven't considered from a foreign player's perspective.

Kevin Love has been fully expected to exercise his player option and become a free agent in 2015. If he signs a max deal, it would amount to roughly $94 million over five years. But if he opts into his $16.7 million for next season, in 2016 he could potentially sign a five-year max worth $155 million with the Cavaliers (or whichever team holds his Bird rights). If he wanted to sign with a different team, the deal would be worth potentially $115 million over four years. That's a huge reason for Love to delay free agency a year and could be the motivation behind his comments earlier this season.

I kind of see it both ways. The article makes a lot of sense. But the longer he stays in Cleveland, the more he drives his value down playing as the 3rd option. So waiting another season, just makes it less likely he'll get that max. At least this summer, you have major franchises with tons of money competing to sign him. Plus, he can make up 40M in ad revenue playing in NY or LA over 4 years pretty easily..

@ESPNSteinLine Sounds like Rockets, as you'd expect, aren't ready to surrender on Dragic pursuit even amid strong word Dragic doesn't want to sign there

I wonder if the Rockets are going to roll the dice on a 3-month rental in the hopes that they can convince him to sign an extension
Dragic and a healthy Dwight gives them one hell of a chance in the playoffs

Slightly off topic but Blazers are interested in Tayshaun Prince if he is bought out. I suggested that exact move a couple weeks ago when we were talking about how shitty their bench is now. Amazing when one of your wild suggestions becomes a real possibility

I want the Kings to get him.

Fair point. Certainly Love has looked like he's been pouting for much of the season and that's a problem.
I would look to Bosh as a recent counterpoint. Playing for 4 years with depressed numbers didn't stop teams from throwing big $ at him.
As for winning with him as your #1, I agree. But he can be a 2nd banana and those guys still get max level deals.

Dragic is going to be a Rocket.
That is what all of the dudes on the radio have been saying. If you think about it what other playoff team in the West or contender in the East actually needs a PG? Houston is really it.

They are going to snag Cousins from Sac, at least that is the word on the streets

I could see Boston trying to get him. They gave y'all Wright earlier in the year.

Y'all? I am a Lakers fan!

He's 28. As a lakers fan I'd much rather Reggie Jackson

Must be a Celtic fan if you'd rather the Lakers get Reggie Jackson over Dragic
