Exactly.
And we've been hearing about it more often in recent years because people are feeling more empowered to talk about it than they were back in the good old days, when newspapers would write racist slurs in articles and headlines to describe minorities and when domestic violence was nothing more than a punch line in a popular tv show (pun intended).

I don't think this is PC out of control though. Attacking names like Braves and Seminoles is PC out of control, but this is an ethnic slur and the only reason people like it as the name is it's very well established. There's no way Redskins would be adopted as the name today if this were a new franchise, but names like Braves and Seminoles would still be popular among fans.

The Redskins are not located in D.C. so that city has no power to make Synder do anything, let alone move the team. And he has consistently been clear: he will NEVER change the name. I am a dyed in the wool Irishman, and my family, going back to those fresh off the boats in N.Y., had a hell of a lot more to worry about & struggle over than being called a Mick and/or mocked by all the typical sterotypes of Irishmen. Point being, American Natives have a lot more to worry about than a name of a pro football team in my very Irish opinion.

I agree the logo should be changed for Cleveland. But the name should stay as Indians is not a racist term.
