As a southerner with little hockey knowledge. NHL playoffs is so much fun to watch. Pick a team and hope it goes 7.

So glad Kadri is back. He'll make a noticeable impact.

It's the best playoff product in sports, AINEC.

To the OP, look through ESPN's playoff matchups, and just pick a team. Based on proximity, sweater design, logo, whatever. Doesn't matter. Just pick one and watch. Or, settle in for a game and see who you're innately hoping will win. My 2-year-old pulled for the Capitals against the Pens because "red is cool." That's reason enough, honestly.

The Rangers are the only thing on there that you have to pay for. The Stars, The Anaheim Ducks, a hokey minor league, Volleyball, socccer and one high school football game a week during the season are free.

Charleston? The Canes represent both Carolinas.

I think that's why I picked UF as a kid even though my dad was an FSU fan. The color blue.

They don't usually fight in the playoffs.

I like watching the Hurricanes, partly because they're close to us but also because their crowd is rowdy as shite. NHL crowds in general are 10x better than NBA crowds. No constant drone of piped in shite, no "hype man" yelling over the game play...just constant action and tension, beating the shite out of each other, playing through pain...

If the Blackhawks are ever good again (I'm starting to think they won't be ) that would be the team to watch because there's nothing like the United Center at playoff time.

Canes fan checking (no pun intended) here.

With the Panthers out, us Canes fans feel good as they have been our nemesis two of the last three conference finals. Having said that, if Ottawa is the first round opponent the Canes will have their hands full. Home ice will be huge as Rod can send out the checking line when the situation dictates.

Playoff hockey is the best, on TV it’s great but being there is (expensive) another level. I hope we draw Boston because there are enough transplants down here to make it chippy in the stands.

For newcomers the Canes are a balanced team, solid defensively but don’t have an offensive superstar. Only real weakness is goaltending. Rod’s system depends on the forwards being defensively responsible which can mean they can have the puck 2/3rds the game but lose because they give up a breakaway or a leaky goal.

What a redemption arc that would be, indeed.

Hope we get some game 7's that go into OT. Doesn't get much better than that when it comes to watching sports.

Dostal is an AHL goalie. Feel like he's going to get LIT up in the playoffs.

I actually though the Canes would beat us last year after we went to 7 with the Leafs but then Rod the Bod thought they could out Panther the Panthers.

They were tied for longest entering this year with 14 seasons

My family in Rochester said it’s nuts in Western NY right now.

The beer sabre was the only way to get fans excited these last few years to go to games this season. Little do they know it’s the reason the drought would end

Haha- I agree. Game 1 at home we came out trying that. It lasted all of 8 minutes and Aho retaliated and got called for a penalty. Panthers scored on the power play and the tone was set and it was over

Woild have been interesting if the Panthers had not run over the Leafs goalie in the prior series. Playoff hockey

Wild win tonight, on to Dallas. That series should be great.

Anybody who does not have a team, jump on the Sabres bandwagon, it's ok. It's been a long time for that team and that city is going to go crazy. Those games will be electric.

I’m gonna meet up with the other Sabres fan in New Orleans for a few games. Gonna get rowdy now that I’ve found someone to watch games with. It’s usually me alone in my living room yelling at the TV every time we try the whole drop back puck approach during the power play
