No idea if this is COVID-19 related or not.

I don’t think most understand how huge the trotters were in the 70’s , they rivaled NBA players in celebrity status, it was can’t miss TV watching Curly, Lemon and Geese on ABC’s wide world on Saturday afternoons for me.

All deaths are assumed Covid-19 nowadays.

Globetrotters cartoon IMDB site

They had their own cartoon show, used to do a lot of crossovers on TV shows back then when they came from the same studio

I would probably say for that time frame they were bigger honestly. They played to packed houses, and provided great family entertainment.

You're right. For me, it was "can't miss tv" when they were on the tube. Curly, Geese and Meadowlark Lemon were my favorite players and the things the entire team did with the ball was amazing. I got to see them live twice and it was a blast.

RIP Curly Neal

What an incredible dribbler.

Curly was a tremendous entertainer and part of a very funny group of Globetrotters.

Curly was an icon at the Globetrotters peak. Any of them would have been NBA stars, but Curly was special. All knew the the script they they followed every game, like the bucket of confetti, but kept filling arenas for every game.

Someone told me the Globetrotters used to run a "field goal" play where Meadowlark would be the holder and Curly would kick the ball like a football from out past the top of the key and make it in the hoop every time. I've looked for evidence of this online but couldn't find anything. Anyone remember this?
