Crowd sings Country Roads

Learn something new every day

quote:

Notably, it is a popular sing-along song at Oktoberfest events in Munich, so it shouldn't be a big surprise that the German fans broke that one out to honor the arrival of an American sport.

Germans singing Country Roads in Munich while the Tampa Bay pirate mascot dances on the sideline. This is my NFL.

What the f does Penn State singing Sweet Caroline have to do with people in Germany singing Sweet Caroline at a Bucs/Seahawks game?

Literally zero people think of Penn State when they think of Sweet Caroline and sports.

Not gonna lie. While I think the nfl having a European division would be mostly stupid, part of me would really enjoy the atmospheres that would most assuredly be among the best in the league if the games were actually meaningful to them.

Imagine the Raider Nation vs the London Jaguars’ hooligans.

That is PPV material right there.

nfl could probably work in germany as their soccer league is non-competitive with the same team winning every year. german fans are dying for something to cheer for.

When I worked at a bar in Goleta, CA, there was a big bell hanging up behind the bar. You only rang the bell on two occasions: 1) To announce last call 2) at the "bah-bah-BAHHHHHH" part of Sweet Caroline when someone played it on the jukebox. Everyone was into it. Good times.

Country Roads is sung all over the world, especially in karaoke Bars in Asia. There are a handful of European soccer teams that sing it. Those people have never watched a WVU game or even know where it is in the US.
Sweet Caroline has been famously sung by Pitt fans going into the 4th quarter for decades. It is also song by some European soccer teams.

It’s because of the video game Fallout 76. Fallout’s theme song was Country Roads.

I know the English sing Sweet Caroline at soccer games, maybe the germans do to. I have no idea why they sing it, maybe to relieve the boredom of a nil-nil draw.
