Wouldn’t it be sick to like play a game in your actual stadium

Agreed.

If they can't play in Jacksonville for 2 seasons, then just play a home and home. I'm sure the fans would like that FAR more than a game played in Atlanta and Tampa.

But, alas, the conference can't make as much money off of a home and home series. So the game gets pushed to sterile neutral sites.

A home and home series was layup for the SEC. Of course, Sankey just let the ball bounce right off his head.

What we've really been missing is more UGA neutral site games in Atlanta

It's a massive FU to the fans & an obvious cash grab.

Imagine how cool it would've been to play a truly generational home & home series. Imagine all the hype you'd get from something that out of the ordinary. Then 25 years from now, they'll be renovating the stadium again & we could do another series. That's the kind of thing fanbases talk about for the rest of time.

They had a chance to build culture & lore, instead it's just another boring neutral site game in Atlanta

I'm pretty sure that's what they did back in the 90s when they were rebuilding the stadium in Jacksonville. I remember it all too well because Spurrier hung 50 on Georgia in Gainesville then did it again the next year in Athens

every single person I know, to a man, desperately wants this.

Unfortunately money is all that matters and fans are an afterthought, so money wins the day. Therefore we get soulless neutral site games at NFL stadiums. Yay.

Concern is probably if it moves to campus then it ain't going back to Jax

Should just rename this thread to "McMurphy just now realizes that Georgia-Florida game will not be played in Jacksonville the next 2 seasons"

The conference or the schools? Does the SEC force the neutral cocktail party on UGA and UF?

I assure you that isn't the concern. Jacksonville will always pony up enough money to have it stay, and both schools love having it there. This was 1000% about money and literally nothing else.

The old "neutral site" an hour from campus never gets old

This is an agreement between the 2 schools.Sankey has nothing to do with it nor should he.

Do you really want the commissioner deciding what goes on between two SEC rivals?

How so?

I know the neutral site kickoff classic bullshite got popular because in non-conference games, the TV media rights belonged to whoever was the home team. So by having neutral site games in NFL stadiums, it was a way to get networks to pay extra for those games.

But UF-UGA is an SEC regular season game, regardless of whether its on campus or a neutral site. So it falls under the regular SEC media rights deals. How would the conference make more money by it being at a neutral site instead of on campus?

Please cite your evidence that Sankey decided where these two games would be played and how the SEC will make more money off of them.

Probably the most useless “big rivalry” game around. Doesn’t matter where it’s played

Both UF and UGA are getting $9 million EACH just for this year’s game. You can’t turn that down if you’re an AD.
