I never said UL-L was out of the new G48. By all indications, they are included.

LSU - P4
LaTech - G4
UL-L - G4
Tulane - G4

That is exactly what is happening.

It will boil down to 48 teams in the new P4 and 48 teams in the new G4.

It will be more regional and yes, schools like Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Oregon State and Rutgers will have some sleepless nights.

Budgets are an overblown number. University presidents know this. That is why you are seeing more academics on the conference selection subcommittees these days. It goes to the Boise State argument….no real university wants them in their conference because their academics are just better than diesel driving academy.

I can take you to a school that has a $60 million athletic budget and a school that has a $30 million athletic budget - after walking the facilities, you would not guess which school has the “bigger” budget.

Schools like Memphis, UCF and to some extent LaTech have operations that no where reflect what the budget states….because of a high concentration of very wealthy boosters.

If you boiled it all down, Memphis probably has better or at least equal to athletic operations and funding that most P5 schools not named Florida, Texas, AandM, Michigan, LSU, etc. just because of booster support that takes place outside a state budget number.

3. You are the most subsidized athletic program in the state of Louisiana. You are beating your chest over a budget you don’t pay for nor can afford. 55% of your revenue comes from the state. LA Tech has 44% of their budget come from the state.

The institutional support that shows as 55% is from RCAF which is an arm of the university. It is not a separate entity, like TAF. So every donation made to the RCAF is under an arm of the university foundation. So that money is donated and then transferred from the university.

That is why it shows 55% funded by UL. Secondly, 2020 was $37M, 2021 will be closer to $41M. There is also 3/4 of the $75M raised for the stadium in hand from private parties. Not FEMA like LaTurd for their facility projects.
Also nearly complete funding for an additional $500M on campus improvements to be announced soon.

Most people can hate on UL on this forum, I get it. We are pretty much less than a 0% threat to LSU, but there is no other university in the state outside of LSU that can even remotely match what is going on in Lafayette.

You can shite on Tech all you want but we aren’t up to our neck in debt trying to be something we aren’t. I’m not getting into this pissing match, because at the end of the day neither of us know who is in front of the other when it comes to AAC pecking order. If budget was the only thing that mattered, Old Dominion would have been in the AAC a long time ago.

The pecking order for the AAC if it gets gutted is:

1. UAB
2. Rice
3. Louisiana
4a. Liberty
4b. ODU
4c. GaSt

That’s the order. Book it

Yeah I’ll take it straight to Vegas. The guy running around calling his rival school turd like a seven year old is usually the most knowledgeable fan in the room.

Y’all can try to polish LaTurd all you want, but the truth is north Louisiana should only be served by Northwestern State as the only university for all of Louisiana north of Alexandria.

LaTech is a brand, just like Louisiana is for the Cajuns. You guys up there don’t respect our athletic branding so no one is required to respect y’all’s.

Wow, Now that’s one I’ve never heard before! Fantastic stuff!
I’ll say this…Demons have a nicer football stadium than Cajuns do.

Wow…..just wow.

Not anywhere close to how this will shake out.

I swear, LSU fans may be 100% right about UL-L fans.

Well….Louisiana Tech has run circles around UL-L the last decade when it comes to on campus development. The amount of money that LaTech is bringing in from their micro engineering and CEnIT is staggering.

Tech’s partnerships with the air force and dod dwarf ANYTHING UL-L is doing or will do. UL-L hypes itself as an IT school but LaTech is by far the cybersecurity leader in Louisiana….and it ain’t even close.

Funny - LSU and UL-L did not link up fiber connections to share database and research. Oh, that was LSU and LaTech. Damn

And LSU and LaTech are the only public tier 1 national universities in the state. UL-L is not even really close.

And by the way you interpreted the TAF financial operations…ouch

LaTech and LSU segregate those foundations - and for damn good reason. UL-L cooks with gas and when it hits E has an explanation for the “transfers”.

LSU is the big dawg - no doubt but Louisiana Tech is the clear second best public academic and athletic school in the state.

Don’t make me dig up UL-L vs La Tech football series records for the last 20 years…cause LaTech has something like a 33 point average margin of victory.

Dude, get a life. This thread was going nicely, with respect given to the Cajuns. Your posts about LaTech have made all Cajuns fans look bad.

Signed - Cajuns fan who lives in the real world.

Neither fit the demographic of the conference. Presidents vote not fans.

I was listening to a C-USA podcast the other day and the lead guy for C-USA on Underdog Dynasty said the AAC should grab UAB and then FIU, FAU and UTSA. I was blown away just because it is unreal to me that there are still people within C-USA who can’t admit what a disaster the “market” qualifier has been for the conference.

He is a C-USA East guy and market size is the only thing that side of the conference has going for it. It seems like everyone except the eastern half of conference USA has realized that market size doesn’t mean shite at the G6 level

I think the SBC has an opportunity to expand and make their conference a top tier G5. CUSA is on life support and schools are actively trying to get out of the conference. The SBC is a conference that is starting to up its profile. If the SBC added a few top schools from CUSA, it could be a nice conference.

SBC East:

APP St
Coastal Carolina
Georgia Southern
Georgia St
Liberty*
Marshall*
FAU*
UAB*

SBC West:

Louisiana
Louisiana Monroe
Arkansas St
Texas St
South Alabama
Troy
Southern Miss*
Lousiana Tech*

The actively trying to get out is overblown. Marshall is the only team in the east worth a shite so they would prefer to be in the MAC.

ODU wants out because they epitomize coastal elitism. They legitimately think they are too good for C-USA or the Sun Belt despite the fact they should still be FCS status.
