Yesterday Dabo Swinney said the game was not cancelled due to Covid-19, but rather it was used as an excuse. When asked about Swinney’s comments, Norvell said, “Everyone here was excited, and wanted the opportunity to compete. the protocols that are in place to ensure the health and well-being of our athletes, we don’t take lightly. Football coaches are not doctors. Some of us might think we are.”

Norvell put it loud and clear, saying, “It absolutely was a Covid issue.”

Norvell also mentioned that he tried to get in touch with Swinney on Saturday morning after the announcement, but “couldn’t connect” with him. The Tigers’ head coach said they wouldn’t travel back to Tallahassee unless FSU paid for it. Norvell is fully committed to getting the game rescheduled in Tallahassee. “If contributions need to be made, I’ll sign up to make one.”

quote:

Norvell mentioned that the Seminoles’ medical staff was worried because Clemson practiced and traveled a symptomatic player, which led to the positive test. When asked about Clemson’s handling of the situation, he said, “Other schools can handle themselves however they want. They can practice symptomatic players. But when it comes to our student athletes and their well being, we’re going to rely on our medical advisors to make the best call.”

Covid Issue. Covid Issue. Covid Issue. Covid Issue.

Where do these people get their scripts from? Over night, everyone is now saying Covid Issue.

Its a term that doesnt even fricking mean anything. Not a case, or a positive test, or a hospitalization, or a needed respirator, or a death with covid, or a death by covid.

They worked it down to Covid Issue. And everyone everywhere in the media is saying it.

This is the problem with Norvell's statement. Clemson has stated numerous times that the player was symptomatic Monday and Tuesday. He tested negative Monday. He did not practice Monday or Tuesday. He became asymptomatic on Wednesday. He did not practice Wednesday. He was tested again. His test was negative. On Thursday, the player was tested AGAIN simply because he had symptoms earlier in the week. He tested negative AGAIN. At this point, the asymptomatic, negative tested player practiced.

Friday came. The team tested again. They then boarded the planes and the results came after they landed in Tally. The player, who was asymptomatic, tested positive.

1. The player never practiced when he was symptomatic.
2. The player did not travel while symptomatic.
3. The ACC Co Vid protocols would have allowed the game to go on with even with a postive player traveling of the contact tracing protocols were followed. Clemson assured FSU they were.
4. FSU just chose to not believe Clemson.

And, out of an abundance of caution, the Player was quarantined in the back of the plane during the team's flight.

The real problem is that FSU is a P5 program in the DEEP SOUTH/SEC land. This is not a good look for them.

Again, if they had to forfeit 3 weeks of games due to an outbreak from one "positive and sympotomatic" player then both of them would be crying, so in that regards I would also understand better safe than sorry.

It's also not about the disease, but what a spread through your team would mean for your schedule and having to cancel games.

That's actually a great response.

I'm gonna laugh when Clemson doesn't have enough players for the ACCCG and has to forfeit to ND by default...

To be fair, Norvell is right here.

It's disingenuous as frick for any non-doctor to be 100% certain about the virus, when even doctors right now are learning new shite about it and changing what they previously said seemingly every week.

It might be important to remember from FSU and Norvell's POV the little bitch fit some of the bad apples had on Twitter before the season even started about Covid and our protocol. FSU has had numerous blowouts over the last 3 years, especially against Clemson. I'm not sure how much sense it makes to to lose a million dollars over not playing the game just so we wouldn't have the blowout that everybody knew was coming anyway.

Then why did they play the Pitt game? They announced a Pitt player had to sit due to a positive Covid the day of the Game and the Semi-Holes played that game (and got and asswhiipin).

This is where Clemson's argument falls apart.

You can't practice someone with symptoms. You can't let kids with symptoms travel. That's a given in this COVID world that we live in.

The unfortunate truth is that you can't test out of COVID. What you describe above is common...tests don't reveal a positive for 4-5 days.

I think Dabo will make the trip if Miami is 10-1 and Clemson is 9-1 in a few weeks. If not, it's on Dabo if his team doesn't make the ACCCG

Dabo is easily the biggest bitch in CFB. His public whining is unparalleled.
