Thoughts on why this guy was so bad at Nebraska? Done great at UCF. I get it different competition, etc but he still should have been able to do better than he did.

He wouldn't fire his shitty defensive coordinator.

He thought Martinez would lead him to relevancy when in fact Martinez is a bonehead.

I don’t have a reason why he was so bad but Nebraska and their fans need to realize it’s not 1990 anymore. They are the biggest “loser” to how the world works nowadays with NIL. Until they’re ready to pay kids to go to “school” in the middle of nowhere Nebraska they will be a mid to lower tier player in whatever league they play in. End of story.

Nebraska has one of the most loyal alumni and fan base in the country. They need to start embracing what current college football demands and that’s money via NIL. Until then They’ll continue to be a bottom dweller

2 years as HC before Nebraska, the 1 at a losing season. Had 1 good year at UCF where the stars aligned. Not sure I would base his aptitude on that 1 season.

I keep seeing people say this but I don’t know one single Nebraska fan who expects them to be anywhere near the level they were in the 90s. All they want is to be competitive, such as the level of a Wisconsin, and compete (and win) the Big 10 West which isn’t hard to do.

As far as NIL goes they were ranked #2 or 3 in NIL last year so you’re totally off on that one as well.

Frost chose to bring all his buddies along with him when he was hired rather than going out and hiring top-tier coordinators. Last year Trev game him the chance to make changes and get rid of any staff members who weren’t cutting it. He chose to keep Chinander (DC) and that led to his downfall. Nebraska has talent, especially on offense. 2 excellent RBs, some very good WRs, and a solid QB. Defense is terrible and offensive line is soft. They haven’t recruited OL/DL well. Frost’s top priority for OL was that he wanted “tall” guys. For what reason, I have no clue. That’s why now their OL has guys that are 6’7”, 6’8”, and 6’10”. Big but soft. They were getting pushed around by the FCS North Dakota d-line. Urban Meyer will be in Lincoln this weekend and has hinted that he might be interested in the job, but it’s doubtful that Trev will talk to him because he doesn’t “match the morals and standards of this great state.” Sad. Instead they’ll end up with the “safe” hire like Campbell or Klieman or Leipold and win 7-8 games a year.

When Frost got wind Joe Burrow was interested in transferring to Nebraska, he had this to say: "You think he’s better than what we got?”

Scott Frost opted for Adrian Martinez over Joe Burrow. Nothing more needs to be said.

One great year. That's the only reason for the hype.

He was also overvalued as an OC at Oregon considering he was just running the same Kelly/Helfrich offense with Mariota at QB.

His failure at Nebraska was not just because Nebraska is a tough job. I'm not convinced Frost will be a successful HC elsewhere.

Which makes the hype that was around him seems so silly. You had clowns like Brando calling him a generational coach.

Go watch the video of Frost’s first tunnel walk before the first game. You can see why he failed just by looking at his face. He was all wide-eyed and emotional. It was like he couldn't believe he was there. It's not something you see from most successful coaches.

Frost’s teams always looked sedated. I’d see other teams, jumping around, hyped, like hungry animals in their cages, waiting to be released to go run out on the field. Nebraska players would run out like they just woke up from a collective nap. No fire at all.

If Clay Helton can beat you with mediocre Sun Belt talent, you're a crap coach...I mean he lost every close game to average teams.

To be fair, Martinez was really good as a freshman and even had some Heisman buzz going into his sophomore campaign. They wanted him to bulk up and when he did it slowed him down and he lost his elusiveness and wiggle. Also suffered some injuries that slowed his progress and he never recovered. Moments of greatness interspersed with moments of total failure.

Nebraska is paying him 15 mil to walk away. They literally could have waited 3 more games into their already doomed season and cut the buyout way down but they chose not to.

That's what you're dealing with.

Nebraska is a fricking joke with too much money and I hope they aren't competitive for the rest of my lifetime. They deserve it.

Not possible. Frost had them throwing up so much in the summer.

Klieman
I would be happy with this hire if I was a Nebraska fan. Has a track record of success and has done well in a desolate neighboring football state in Kansas. It can’t be that hard to be in the upper echelon of the Big 10 when you have Nebraska resources.

Osbourne recruited gang members and played guys out on bail.

Trev was on those teams. If he doesn't hire Urbs it will be for other reasons and he'll claim it was due to "morals".
